President Trump signed an executive order to create a faith initiative during a Rose Garden ceremony for the National Day of Prayer Wednesday morning.
“We condemn all crimes against people of faith, and today we are launching another historic action to promote religious freedom,” announced the president. “I will soon be signing an executive order to create a faith initiative at the White House.”
The order will ensure faith based organizations have equal access to government funding.
The president said faith has shaped America to what it is today, and said as president he will always protect religious liberty.
He also paid homage to the late evangelist Billy Graham, and said the prayers of religious leaders like the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King helped win the long struggle for civil rights.
The president took a moment to tout his past achievements, including the executive order he signed last year to prevent the Johnson Amendment from interfering First Amendment rights.
