View Full Version : Giuliani Just Exposed Trump

In an interview with Sean Hannity, Giuliani admitted James Comey was fired over the Russia probe, and then followed that bombshell up by just casually revealing that Donald Trump reimbursed Michael Cohen for the Stormy Daniels hush money.

On Comey:

Rudy Giuliani on Wednesday night said President Donald Trump fired James Comey because the former FBI director wouldn’t offer public assurances that Trump wasn’t a target of an investigation.

“He fired Comey because Comey would not, among other things, say that he wasn’t a target of the investigation,” the former New York mayor, who recently joined Trump’s legal team, told Fox News’ Sean Hannity. “He’s entitled to that. Hillary Clinton got that and he couldn’t get that. So he fired him and he said, ‘I’m free of this guy.’”

Comey had previously said that he told Trump he wasn't the focus of an investigation but that the president pressed him to make a public statement. The former FBI director said he never made a public statement for several reasons, including the possibility that Trump’s actions would eventually come under review by the FBI.

The president has changed his reason for firing Comey since he dismissed the former FBI director in May 2017. The White House initially said Trump fired Comey at the recommendation of Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, who penned a memo suggesting firing Comey over his handling of the investigation into Clinton’s use of a private email server.

However, several days later, the president told NBC’s Lester Holt that he fired Comey over the investigation into Russian collusion.

"When I decided to just do it, I said to myself, I said, you know, this Russia thing with Trump and Russia is a made-up story," Trump said at the time of the decision to dismiss Comey.

More recently, Trump tweeted in April that Comey “was not fired because of the phony Russia investigation.”

If you need a reminder why this is bad beyond revealing Trump is a baldfaced liar, here goes; this lays a serious foundation that Trump was obstructing justice, which is a felony, by eliminating the people investigating him. It is hard to prove because you have to show motivation, an always tricky issue. But now we have Trump's own legal counsel saying teh President fired Comey specifically because Comey would not exempt the President from investigation, which gives motivation for the obstructing justice accusation.

In regards to Stormy Daniels, Giuliani said:

“Are you concerned that a foreign national, Christopher Steele, was paid through Fusion GPS, his Russian sources that weren’t only not verified but debunked, are you concerned that was paid for to manipulate the American people in the lead up to the election?” Hannity asked.

“Isn’t that closer to the mandate than Michael Cohen having something to do with paying some Stormy Daniels woman $130,000?” Giuliani said. “Which is going to turn out to be perfectly legal. That money was not campaign money. Sorry, I’m giving you a fact now that you don’t know. It’s not campaign money. No campaign finance violation.”

“So they funneled it through a law firm?” Hannity asked. “Funneled it through a law firm, and then the president repaid,” Giuliani responded.

“Oh,” Hannity responded, hilariously. “I didn’t know. He did?”

“Trump didn’t know about the specifics of [the hush money agreement], as far as I know,” Giuliani said later. “But he did know about the general arrangement that Michael would take care of things like this, like I take care of things like this for my clients. I don’t burden them with every single thing that comes along.”

Giuliani’s revelation directly contradicts what Michael Cohen has said for months, that Trump had no knowledge of the payment. “In a private transaction in 2016, I used my own personal funds to facilitate a payment of $130,000 to Ms. Stephanie Clifford,” Michael Cohen said in February. “Neither the Trump Organization nor the Trump campaign was a party to the transaction with Ms. Clifford, and neither reimbursed me for the payment, either directly or indirectly.”

The Stormy Daniels confession can be seen in this segment of the interview beginning around the 10:50 mark.

So now we have the President's legal counsel admitting the President obstructed justice by firing a man investigating him because he wouldn't stop investigating the President (makes you wonder what he was hiding, right?) and we know Trump was paying Cohen back for taking care of his "dirty business" as well as knowing Trump is a liar, adulterer, and deceiver, with the morals of a Cheeto.

From the standpoint of legal liability, you are probably right. From the standpoint of some conservative talk show hosts who have defended Trump but said "If he's lying about Stormy Daniels, we can't defend him on that"...well now they have egg on their face. That said I don't expect them to go anywhere.

Why would Trump bring in a deep state on his legal team .. or you think Trump is also deep state?

Two and two don't add up.

Rudy Giuliani says Trump son-in-law Jared Kushner is 'disposable,' warns against investigating Ivanka

Rudy Giuliani called President Donald Trump's son-in-law, Jared Kushner, "disposable" — and warned that special counsel Robert Mueller should stay away from Ivanka Trump.

Giuliani's off-the-cuff cut on Kushner, a senior adviser to the president, came Wednesday night as he also revealed that the president had repaid long-time lawyer Michael Cohen for a $130,000 hush-money payment to porn star Stormy Daniels.
Giuliani, who is now on Trump's legal team, told Fox News' Sean Hannity that Kushner's wife, Ivanka, should not be subject to Mueller's probe of Russian meddling into the 2016 election.

Ivanka Trump is also a senior presidential adviser.
"Jared is a fine man, you know that," the former New York mayor said. "Men are disposable."
"But a fine woman like Ivanka? Come on."
"'Ivanka Trump? I think I would get on my charger and go right into ... their offices with a lance if they go after Ivanka," the former federal prosecutor said of Mueller's team.

Giuliani also predicted that "the whole country will turn on," Mueller if the special counsel went after the president's daughter.

Mueller is investigating Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election, as well as possible collusion by Trump campaign officials.
In June 2016, Trump's son Donald Jr., Kushner and then-campaign chief Paul Manafort met with a Russian lawyer, Natalia Veselnitskaya, at Trump Tower in New York.
Donald Trump Jr. accepted the meeting with Veselnitskaya after he was told she had incriminating information about former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, who was running for president against his father.

I believe reimbursing Cohen $130,000 keeps it away from being an illegal campaign contribution. Remember, Trump denies knowing anything about the payment when it happened. He may be lying, but unless someone can prove he is lying it doesn't matter. Can't frame Trump for the money going from Cohen to Daniels without proof.

It only makes sense for Trump to repay Cohen after he learns about the $130,000 to take away the appearance it was a campaign contribution.

Daniels still has to prove she had sex with Trump to win her defamation suit. Monica Lewinsky is looking like a genius keeping the blue dress. Maybe Daniels has something like that. It would be interesting.

Giuliani May Have Exposed Trump to New Legal and Political Perils By MICHAEL D. SHEAR, MATT APUZZO and MAGGIE HABERMANMAY 3, 2018

President Trump reshuffled his legal team in recent weeks as he has sought a more aggressive posture in dealing with the investigations into him and his associates. Credit Doug Mills/The New York Times

WASHINGTON — President Trump’s new legal team made a chaotic debut as Rudolph W. Giuliani, who was tapped recently to be one of the president’s lawyers, potentially exposed his client to legal and political danger by publicly revealing the existence of secret payments to Michael D. Cohen, the president’s personal lawyer.
After he moved into the White House, the president began paying Mr. Cohen $35,000 a month, Mr. Giuliani said, in part as reimbursement for a $130,000 payment that Mr. Cohen made to a pornographic film actress to keep her from going public about an affair she said she had with Mr. Trump. The president confirmed he made payments (https://www.nytimes.com/2018/05/03/us/politics/trump-cohen-giuliani.html) to Mr. Cohen in a series of Twitter posts on Thursday morning.
The explosive revelation, which Mr. Giuliani said was intended to prove that Mr. Trump and Mr. Cohen violated no campaign finance laws, prompted frustration and disbelief among the president’s other legal and political advisers, some of whom said they feared the gambit could backfire.
Legally, the failure to disclose the payments could be a violation of the Ethics in Government Act of 1978, which requires that federal officials, including Mr. Trump, report any liabilities of more than $10,000 during the preceding year. Mr. Trump’s last disclosure report, which he signed and filed in June, mentions no debt to Mr. Cohen.
Politically, Mr. Giuliani’s remarks — made in television appearances and interviews — raised questions about the president’s truthfulness and created a firestorm at the White House, where aides were caught off guard and furiously sought to deflect questions they could not answer. Sarah Huckabee Sanders, the White House press secretary, said she had been unaware of the payments before the interviews.

Yes. Because protecting your client from legal repercussions by proving no laws were broken because Trump paid for this with his own money instead of using campaign funds is how you prove you are "deep state." Guilliani got Trump out of hot water and stupid Trump just jumped back in. This is what most likely happened. Guilliani and Trump discussed what Guilliani would say before he said it. You know Guilliani is actually a real official spokesperson, not someone that Trump tweeted "I like what he says" about. Trump was willing to go with the Guilliani plan until he got word that some of his naive Christian conservative backers wanted to go along with the "I did not have sex with that woman" myth. So Trump decided to choose legal uncertainty over political backpeddling.

I'm not making anything up; all of those details were provided by @dannno (http://www.ronpaulforums.com/member.php?u=10908).

Here's his theory, summarized:

Trump had sex with a porn star.

(Which Trump denies)

she threatened to unveil a sex scandal to the media

(She threatened to do this but didn't tell Trump, because reasons.)

nobody actually gives a shit if he slept with a porn star.

(But it was covered up anyway.)

There's an unexplained step here, which is what I've asked the Trumpwhisperer to fill us all in on:

The blackmail threat, which was not communicated to Trump, was somehow forwarded to Cohen who, coincidentally, is well-versed in paying off mistresses. Then Cohen, who did not know if Trump had actually fucked her or not, and had not in any way communicated with Trump about the matter, decides that he should pay her $130,000 and get her to sign an NDA with Trump's name on it. He doesn't tell Trump about the agreement or get Trump to sign it, instead entirely completing a business agreement in his client's name without his client's knowledge.

(Except Trump said “... with this crazy Stormy Daniels deal he represented me.")

And, finally:

Trump... reimbursed Cohen $130,000

(Except not all at once; in small payments over time to cover up the completely legal above-board thing that they did for no reason at all.)

jmdrake
05-05-2018, 08:07 PM

Actually Trump's naive Christian conservative base cares about it. I've heard that bantered around on talk radio. "If he has lied to us about Stormy Daniels while POTUS then how can we trust him on anything else?"

And this is why Trump is his own worst enemy. Giuliani was trying to help Trump. The only legal jeopardy Trump would have been in is if campaign funds were used. By identifying the source of the funds, Giuliani was putting this legal issue to bed. Then Trump came out and said "Giuliani doesn't know what he's talking about." And for his troubles Giuliani is being labeled "deep state" by people who just aren't bright enough to understand what's going on.

Something else that you are missing. There were a LOT of women who had accused Trump of all sorts of things before the election. If nothing had happened with Stormy Daniels and if she had just made the story up then Trump could have ignored it and she'd be just one woman of many. Something likely happened and she might have hard evidence like Monica Lewinsky had on Clinton.

If turned out that money that Essential Consultants paid to Stormy had come from Novartis and not from GOP candidate turned POTUS, did Giuliani still cause an exposure?

According to Avenatti's memo, pharmaceutical company Novartis made four separate payments of $99,980 to the Essential Consultants bank account in late 2017 to early 2018;

"Following these payments, reports surfaced that Mr. Trump took a dinner with the incoming CEO of Novartis before Mr. Trump's speech at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland in late January 2018," Avenatti's report said.

Cohen established the firm Essential Consultants in the weeks leading up to Election Day to make a $130,000 payment to Daniels, as a part of an agreement to prevent the porn star from discussing her alleged affair with Trump.
