Susana Martinez On The Record

- Susana Martinez is a veteran district attorney and a Republican who wins elections in a county in which Democrats outnumber Republicans three to one.

- Susana Martinez “we need to amend our Constitution to allow judges to keep the most dangerous criminals in jail--without bail.”
(violation of the 8th Amendment)

- Susana Martinez “I fully support the bipartisan effort to allow local communities to adopt curfews if it's necessary to keep us safe.”

- Susana Martinez rated “F” by NORML:

National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Law's mission is to move public opinion sufficiently to achieve the repeal of marijuana prohibition so that the responsible use of cannabis by adults is no longer subject to penalty.
NORML believes that marijuana smoking is not for kids and should only be used responsibly by adults. As with alcohol consumption, it must never be an excuse for misconduct or other bad behavior. Driving or operating heavy equipment while impaired from marijuana should be prohibited.
NORML strongly supports the right of patients to use marijuana as a medicine when their physician recommends it to relieve pain and suffering.
Lastly, NORML supports the right of farmers to commercially cultivate hemp for industrial purposes, such as food and fiber production.

- Susana Martinez signed Letter on Ex-Im Bank: “We urge you to reauthorize the Export-Import Bank (Ex-Im) before its charter expires this year.”

The Export/Import Bank distorts the market by allowing government bureaucrats to make economic decisions in place of individual consumers. Eximbank also violates basic principles of morality, by forcing working Americans to subsidize the trade of wealthy companies that could easily afford to subsidize their own trade, as well as subsidizing brutal governments like Red China and the Sudan. Eximbank also violates the limitations on congressional power to take the property of individual citizens and use it to benefit powerful special interests.

- Susana Martinez “Facebook is investing more than $1 billion in New Mexico; the equivalent of 10 years’ worth of private construction in Albuquerque. Facebook will have 1,000 construction workers on site every day from now until 2023.”

“To confront our officer shortage statewide, we need to raise police officer salaries and pass legislation that allows retired officers to return to work in law enforcement – right here in New Mexico... And, we will finally give police and prosecutors the staff, tools, and data capabilities necessary”
