TSA workers gotta eat.

I think this is probably true for local government workers as well. When I was a kid my Dad laid carpet for a living, and we had 3 cops that lived in our neighborhood. When I grew and DH made better money, we had a house that was almost 5 x's larger than my parents'. We had 3 cops that lived in that neighborhood.

Is that only including wages and not including benefits?

Is that only including wages and not including benefits?

Yes, that is wages and salary ONLY.

When benefits are included, the number jumps to $127,259

When benefits such as health care and pensions are included, the federal compensation advantage over private workers is even larger, according to the BEA data. In 2016 total federal compensation averaged $127,259 or 80 percent more than the private-sector average of $70,764, as shown in Figure 2.

All broken down here, by sector, profession and compensation. (https://www.downsizinggovernment.org/federal-worker-pay)

WB, AF!

Fuck 'em. Just another reason why I am a conscientious objector when it comes to robbing me to pay them.

Theye have erected a multitude of New Offices, and sent hither swarms of Officers to harass our people and eat out their substance.

They are not federal employees. They are public servants that dedicate their life to benefit everyone!

2016 was 52 K here , ( up 2 percent ) . Of course on 50 - 60K here you can live very , very well. So 52K here would be about 40 percent of avg fed govt worker and benefits .

Does your job offer retirement benefits guaranteed to go up 7% every year to keep up with whatever fuckery the federal reserve has been engaging in?

Thought so.

TSA workers gotta eat.

The TSA is a good example of why government salaries are high. The TSA only hires the best of the best.

Some places are also so diverse you have almost 100% people coming from a certain country. Diversity initiatives work really well for the government.

I am not the one suggesting $1,400 for a day's worth of work is too much.
