Laura Loomer Is Suing After She Was Banned from Orlando Courthouse During Trial of Florida Shooter’s Wife

On Friday, an independent journalist was banned from a federal courthouse in Orlando while covering the trial of Noor Salman, wife of Omar Mateen, the Pulse Nightclub shooter.

Now, Loomer tells Big League Politics that she is filing suit on First Amendment grounds against District Judge Paul G. Byron. She will be represented by Larry Klayman, the legendary attorney who also represents CIA and NSA whistleblower Dennis Montgomery, whose testimony could sink Robert Mueller (that case is currently in court in D.C.)

“I was escorted out w/ force from the Orlando federal court house by a US Marshall as I was sitting in the press room waiting for a verdict in the #NoorSalman trial,” Tweeted Laura Loomer. “They said the judge has issued a court order, BANNING ME from the courthouse for the duration of the trial.”

HuffPo reports that Loomer, who they describe as an “alt-right provocateur,” had her media credentials revoked the previous day after she “harassed” Salman’s family outside the courthouse with “questions about Muslims, jihad and Easter.”

Of course, HuffPo left out the fact that Loomer asked the questions during a press briefing, and that the Omar Mateen and his father Seddique both had ties to radical terrorist organizations. Asking questions about these types of things used to be what journalists did, not that HuffPo would understand.

Loomer rightfully mocked the once-relevant news organization for their report.

“When I said I was going to record the incident for my own legal protection as I was being escorted out, the US Marshall who was probably like 250 pounds forcefully grabbed my hand and took my phone away from me & said he was confiscating my phone,” Loomer said. “This is an extreme 1A violation.”

Salman was charged with providing material support for an international terrorist organization, after her husband shot and killed 49 people in an Orlando nightclub in 2016. Friday, she was acquitted.

“A verdict of not guilty did NOT mean that we thought Noor Salman was unaware of what Omar Mateen was planning to do,” the jury foreman told the Orlando Sentinel.

The foreman said that the jury was not tasked with deciding whether Salman knew of the crime in advance, and in fact they were convinced that she DID know of the planned attack. She will now be free to potentially assist in another terrorist attack.

Why would Klayman need to be a special prosecutor? Can't he just empanel another one of his "citizens grand juries" and do it that way? It worked so well last time. ;)

"Provocateur" is an official sort of term. Is HuffPo asserting she is an agent?

Jury ‘convinced’ Noor Salman knew of Pulse nightclub attack, but had ‘no option’ but to acquit

The jury foreman in the concluded trial of Noor Salman -- widow of Pulse nightclub gunman Omar Mateen – said jurors were “convinced” she knew of the attack beforehand, but had “no option but to return a verdict of not guilty.”

In a statement provided to the Orlando Sentinel, the juror -- who requested to remain anonymous -- said “a verdict of not guilty did NOT mean that we thought Noor Salman was unaware of what Omar Mateen was planning to do,” rather that the jury was “not tasked with deciding if she was aware of a potential attack."

“On the contrary we were convinced she did know,” the statement continued. “She may not have known what day, or what location, but she knew.”

Mateen killed 49 people and wounded 58 others at the Pulse nightclub in Orlando, Fla., on June 12, 2016, before he was killed by police.

Salman avoided a potential life sentence Friday after she was found not guilty on charges of obstruction and aiding and abetting by attempting to provide material support to a terrorist organization – a controversial decision that left survivors frustrated and angry.

"What kind of message does this send to the world?" Tiara Parker, a survivors of the shooting, told Fox News on "The Story" on Friday. "This sends to the world that it's OK to do things like this. And that's not what we're here for."

The acquittal was “devastating" and "no justice was served,” she added.

Salman was acquitted of charges including lying to the FBI and aiding her husband in the attack.

Such negative reactions to the verdict prompted the jury foremen to issue the statement to the newspaper.

“I felt compelled to at least clarify several misconceptions,” expressing “sympathy to family and friends of the victims of this senseless tragedy,” the foreman said.

“I understand the desire to hold someone accountable for this heinous act of violence. Omar Mateen is dead. He cannot be punished,” the statement read. “It is only logical the world would look next to Noor Salman.”

The juror also acknowledged “there were several significant inconsistencies with the written summaries of her statements,” as the FBI did not record its interviews with Salaman following the attack, according to the paper.

However, the statement credited both the prosecution and defense for “an excellent job presenting their case.”

“The bottom line is that, based on the letter of the law, and the detailed instructions provided by the court, we were presented with no option but to return a verdict of not guilty,” the statement read.

Salman did not testify in her defense.
