President Trump reportedly told Russian President Vladimir Putin during a phone call the U.S. would beat Russia if the two nations were to engage in an arms race.

"If you want to have an arms race we can do that, but I'll win," Trump warned Putin, according to two White House officials who spoke to NBC News.

The president has faced intense scrutiny for congratulating the Russian president for winning his re-election bid during the phone call last week, but administration officials argue Trump has recently taken a harsher tone regarding Putin behind the scenes.

Sources told NBC News the shift in approach is a reactionary one since Putin began challenging the president’s strength and flaunting their new nuclear weapons system that could reach the U.S., a threat that reportedly “really got under the president’s skin.”

Following the phone call, the president dismissed any sign of tensions to reporters and claimed the two had future plans to discuss standing down from an arms race.

Still, Trump ordered the expulsion of 60 Russian officials from the U.S. earlier this week in retaliation for their decision reportedly to poison a former Russian spy living in the U.K., which prompted a "tit-for-tat" response from the Kremlin.

Russia tests new ballistic missile that Putin says can strike anywhere on Earth

Russia has successfully tested its latest intercontinental ballistic missile, the country's military said Friday.

The Defence Ministry said the launch from Plesetsk in northwestern Russia tested the Sarmat missile's performance in the initial stage of its flight.

Sarmat is intended to replace the Soviet-designed Voyevoda, the world's heaviest ICBM that is known in the West as "Satan."

Presenting Sarmat and an array of other nuclear weapons earlier this month, President Vladimir Putin said that they can't be intercepted.

Putin said that Sarmat weighs 200 metric tons and has a higher range than Satan, allowing it to fly over the North or South Pole and strike targets anywhere in the world. He added that Sarmat also carries a bigger number of nuclear warheads which are more powerful than the ones on Satan.

The Russian president also said the new ICBM accelerates faster than its predecessor, making it harder for the enemy to intercept in its most vulnerable phase after the launch. He also said Sarmat could carry an array of warheads capable of dodging missile defences.

The missile it is to replace had a range of up to 16,000 kilometers (10,000 miles) and could carry ten warheads of up to 750 kilotons power each.

Putin is into updating stockpiles or adding to them. Thanks for the update, Zippyjuan.

Quick Sci-Fi "end of the world" translation!!!

Putin can literally nuke the South Pole several

times over and DJT can do absolutely nothing to

stop him. The S pole then becomes radioactive.

Perhaps the ice is gone if Florida = submerged.

Those words are in quotes, so he said those exact words? Really? And how does someone know that? Were they in his office when he made the call? Did they listen to a recording later? And two people heard it?

This is so 1950s simplistic and retarded that it's pitiful. Trump is a dumbass all by himself, so it's hilarious that all these sources have to be in the news to up their self-importance.

The conversation (of course) was recorded.
Russia's State Department has stated no such thing between Putin/Trump was said.

That one was only $3 Billion in debt after just one year. A great, successful project!

4. Trump casinos

Trump has filed for bankruptcy on his Atlantic City properties alone three times. First was the Trump Taj Mahal in 1991 — which was $3 billion in debt after just one year in operation. He was back in bankruptcy court in 2004, and not just for the Trump Taj Mahal but for the Trump Marina and Trump Plaza casinos, which along with a riverboat casino in Indiana had a debt burden of some $1.8 billion. After the bankruptcy, Trump Hotels and Casino Resorts reorganized as Trump Entertainment Resorts Inc. Four years later, Trump Entertainment Resorts missed an interest payment on a $53.1 million bond; the company declared bankruptcy, and this time Trump stepped down as its chairman.

Most Trump property isn't owned by Trump anymore. He gets paid to have his name on it though. He has a history of over-paying for things. (or also not paying- reneging on contracts and deals).
