Rarely in my lifetime have I seen the type of civic engagement schoolchildren and their supporters demonstrated in Washington and other major cities throughout the country this past Saturday. These demonstrations demand our respect. They reveal the broad public support for legislation to minimize the risk of mass killings of schoolchildren and others in our society.

That support is a clear sign to lawmakers to enact legislation prohibiting civilian ownership of semiautomatic weapons, increasing the minimum age to buy a gun from 18 to 21 years old, and establishing more comprehensive background checks on all purchasers of firearms. But the demonstrators should seek more effective and more lasting reform. They should demand a repeal of the Second Amendment.

Concern that a national standing army might pose a threat to the security of the separate states led to the adoption of that amendment, which provides that “a well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.” Today that concern is a relic of the 18th century.

Today that concern is a relic of the 18th century.

Freedom is a relic of the 18th century.

I am well aware of that fact.

With the possible exception of the Third Amendment, the entire Bill of Rights are "dead letters", to greater or lessor extents, all thanks to klowns in gowns just like your sorry ass.

If we were on tenth the men our forefathers were, you'd be tarred and feathered and run out of town on a rail for doing what you and your pals have done over the years.

But we're not.

And here we sit, in a polite form of penal servitude, drugged, stupid and fogged into a lassitude of despair.

And we wonder why people snap, and shoot up schools, and commit suicide.

He says the demonstrations force us to "respect" what these demonstrations represent.

What the demonstrations represent is an exercise of the first amendment. A right "secured" for those children in language of the second amendment.

As a former associate justice, he should have some respect for the Constitution as well, and for the oath to protect it that he and every other government official and soldier has taken.

The constitution is not the relic that needs to go away. It's the statist mentality and power worship that presumes itself to be the source of all that is good. That's the relic. That's the tired old thing that just won't go away.

Liberty and freedom and the rule of law is the "new" thing.

If lawmakers and leaders weren't such a cynical bunch of life-destroying hypocrites, sellouts, sycophants, and sociopaths maybe our children wouldn't be so suicidal.

Keep practicing, Johnny.

Taking away guns in the first step in redistributing property. "We are taking your guns now, but rest assured, we'll be back for more."

Do it. C'mon. The tree has withered. There are no leaves to bring sustenance for cankerworms have stripped them, it's bark, gangrenous, rotten and covered with lichens, it's pulp bored through with larvae. Time to resow and water.

Justice Stevens would fit right in with the King's sycophants and courtiers. When dealing with the hillbillies of flyover country and exurbs, he would find himself in agreement with William Knox, Colonial Office Under Secretary.

The Militia Laws should be repealed and none suffered to be re-enacted, & the Arms of all the People should be taken away, & every piece of Ordnance removed into the King’s Stores, nor should any foundry or manufactory of Arms, Gunpowder, or Warlike Stores, be evre suffered in America, nor should any Gunpowder, Lead, Arms or Ordnance be imported into it without License; they will have but little need of such things for the future, as the King’s Troops, Ships Forts will be sufficient to protect them from any danger.

Flanked by two area high school students, a pediatrician and the mother of a gun violence victim, U.S. Rep. Bill Foster told a community forum audience Monday the Second Amendment should be up for reinterpretation as new generations come into power. "It always has been up for reinterpretation," Foster, D-Naperville, said during an event focused on gun violence. "The technology changes, and the weapons thought to be too dangerous to be in private hands change. A civil war cannon is frankly much less dangerous than weapons we are allowed to carry on the streets in many of the states and cities in our country today. This is something where technology changes and public attitude changes and both ...

Three teenagers dressed in black and wearing masks and gloves were killed by a resident when they broke into a home, Oklahoma authorities said Monday.

A fourth suspect, the alleged getaway driver, now faces first-degree murder counts in their deaths, authorities said.

The 23-year-old son of the homeowner fired the fatal shots from a AR-15 semiautomatic rifle, officials said. One suspect had a knife, and another carried brass knuckles.

"Preliminary investigation looks like it's self-defense," said Wagoner County Sheriff's Deputy Nick Mahoney, cautioning the investigation was continuing into the midday home invasion.

A 21-year-old woman, who Mahoney said may have been a getaway driver, turned herself into Broken Arrow police shortly after the shooting.
