Let the thread begin...

AG Sessions held a press conference today regarding the lawsuit filed against California on behalf of the Trump Administration
regarding sanctuary cities, narcotics and human trafficking of illegal immigrants.

Towards the end of the press conference,
AG Sessions fired a shot across the proverbial bow by reminding the state of California
that the first civil war was began because states believed they did not have to abide by federal law.

========

California Gov. Jerry Brown said
that the Department of Justice (DOJ) lawsuit filed against California over recently passed state laws was an “act of war” during a press conference with the California attorney general on Wednesday.

The DOJ filed a lawsuit on Tuesday, which alleged three recently passed California laws deliberately interfered with federal immigration policies.

Mayors directing law enforcement in sanctuary cities to arrest ICE agents.

Municipalities ordering their local law enforcement to protect illegal aliens.

This is twice now in one day that government officials have said the word WAR.

Sessions doesn't have the balls to act on anything so any discussion is moot before it starts.

Judge only granted a delay in the release of $1 million in funds. https://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2018/mar/5/trump-administration-can-withhold-grant-over-calif/

SAN FRANCISCO — The Trump administration will not immediately have to award California a grant being withheld over concerns the state is a sanctuary for people in the country illegally, a federal judge said Monday.

The amount of money at issue – $1 million – was relatively small and was at this point only delayed, not denied, U.S. District Judge William Orrick said. While he rejected the state’s request for a preliminary injunction to turn over the money, he also rejected a request by the U.S. Department of Justice to dismiss California’s lawsuit.

The judge said the suit raised “weighty and novel constitutional issues” that would benefit from additional argument.

Judge rules in city's favor on sanctuary cities, grants nationwide injunction

In a ruling with national impact, a federal judge in Chicago on Friday blocked the Trump administration's rules requiring so-called sanctuary cities to cooperate with immigration agents in order to get a public safety grant.

U.S. District Judge Harry Leinenweber held that Chicago has shown a "likelihood of success" in its arguments that U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions exceeded his authority in imposing new standards governing Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grants across the country.

He also said Mayor Rahm Emanuel's administration has shown the city could suffer "irreparable harm" in its relationship with the immigrant community if it were to comply with the U.S. Department of Justice's new standards.

"Once such trust is lost, it cannot be repaired through an award of money damages, making it the type of harm that is especially hard to rectify" were he to wait until the lawsuit is settled, Leinenweber wrote in the 41-page ruling.

The preliminary injunction granted by Leinenweber applies to districts nationwide.

Summary of California Laws Being Challenged:

►First law mandates Employers to demand ICE agents present a warrant or subpoena before entering certain areas of the premises,
or when accessing employee records.

Senior Justice Department officials have said it’s prevented companies from voluntarily cooperating with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials.

Companies have complained they’ve felt torn between trying to comply with seemingly contradictory state and federal statutes,
since penalties for non-compliance can be steep from both entities.

►Second law known as “the sanctuary state bill” limits state and municipal cooperation with the feds,
including what information can be shared about illegal-immigrant inmates.

►Third law gives state officials the power to monitor and inspect immigrant detention facilities
either run directly by, or contracted through, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

This is fantastic.

Now California needs to print its own money, borrow from the IMF and tax the shit even harder on its citizens. I'm going to love seeing the liberal anti-gun start to realize that they are going to need them when Trump sends National Guard Troops here.

Trump heads to California next week

Donald Trump will visit California next week, his first visit to the Golden State as president, the White House announced on Wednesday.

Sources familiar with Trump's plans say he is expected to visit California to the US-Mexico border to look at border wall prototypes in the San Diego area.

The President and White House have been looking to schedule a trip to the border "for a while," one source said. Trump has not visited California since he was sworn into office, though Vice President Mike Pence did a lucrative fundraising swing through the state in October.

White House press secretary Sarah Sanders confirmed Trump is traveling to California next week but did not provide more specific details.

Asked why he hasn't visited before now, Sanders said Trump had been busy enacting elements of his agenda, such as creating jobs and growing the economy.

...and playing golf. Last weekend he passed 100 total days spent at one of his golf resorts. One quarter of his total time in office. But he will be too busy working for you to even have time to leave the White House let alone play golf.

California won't need a national defense at all since its a sanctuary state everyone is welcome.

https://www.politico.com/story/2012/06/holder-held-in-contempt-of-congress-077988

The House has voted to hold Attorney General Eric Holder in contempt of Congress over his failure to turn over documents related to the Fast and Furious scandal, the first time Congress has taken such a dramatic move against a sitting Cabinet official.

The vote was 255-67, with 17 Democrats voting in support of a criminal contempt resolution, which authorizes Republicans leaders to seek criminal charges against Holder.

That went nowhere...
or did it?
