Jeff Sessions has been found!!
FBI General Counsel James A. Baker is purportedly under a Department of Justice criminal investigation for allegedly leaking classified national security information to the media, according to multiple government officials close to the probe who spoke with Circa on the condition of anonymity.

Attorney General Jeff Sessions said Tuesday that the Justice Department will investigate potential abuses of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA).

Another Comey Crony:

Baker is a close confidant of former FBI Director James Comey, and recent media reports suggested he was reportedly advising the then-FBI director on legal matters following private meetings the former director had in February with President Trump in the Oval Office.

Attorney General Jeff Sessions is defending himself against President Donald Trump's attacks about how the nation's top law enforcement official is handling Republican complaints about the Russia investigation.
Sessions rarely stands up in public to criticism from his boss. But this time, Sessions is fighting back, saying he's done the right thing by referring allegations of FBI surveillance abuse to the Justice Department's internal watchdog.
And Sessions says in a public statement that "as long as I am the attorney general, I will continue to discharge my duties with integrity and honor."
Earlier Wednesday, Trump said Sessions' decision to rely on the department's inspector general for the review was "disgraceful" — and claimed that the inquiry would "take forever." Trump said he preferred that Justice Department lawyers handle the matter.
But Sessions says "we have initiated the appropriate process that will ensure complaints against this department will be fully and fairly acted upon if necessary."

Wednesday, President Trump proved yet again he’s crazy—crazy like a fox.
Less than 24 hours after Attorney General Jeff Sessions confirmed (http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2018/02/27/sessions-doj-inspector-general-to-probe-fisa-abuse-allegations.html) to Fox News’ Catherine Herridge that the DOJ inspector general would be probing allegations of FISA abuse, Trump took to Twitter to ridicule the move.

Why is A.G. Jeff Sessions asking the Inspector General to investigate potentially massive FISA abuse. Will take forever, has no prosecutorial power and already late with reports on Comey etc. Isn’t the I.G. an Obama guy? Why not use Justice Department lawyers? DISGRACEFUL! Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) February 28, 2018 (https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/968856971075051521?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw)

Calling your own high-ranking Cabinet member or their decisions disgraceful meshes with Trump’s modus operandi. Yet, even after three years of this cat-and-mouse game, his tweets continue to shock. And the shock seems to always serve Trump’s purpose.
Trump’s early-morning criticism of Sessions dominated news coverage for the day and forced the media to do something it had been deftly avoiding until now: report on the issue of FISA abuse. For the last month, the press ignored the details of the Obama administration’s improper use of uncorroborated hearsay contained in the Steele dossier to obtain a FISA warrant against former Trump volunteer Carter Page. Instead, the media attacked the messenger, painting Chairman Devin Nunes’ release of the House Intelligence Committee memo as somehow improper. Then, following Saturday’s release of the Schiff memo, the press peddled the narrative that the Democrat response refuted claims of prosecutorial abuse, without ever exploring the evidence of the abuse.

MSN.com (https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/gowdy-has-complete-confidence-in-doj-watchdog-attacked-by-trump/ar-BBJHC1q) continued Wednesday’s coverage of the presidential tweet by reporting that Rep. Trey Gowdy, R-S.C., “voiced confidence in the Justice Department's inspector general after President Trump attacked the government watchdog earlier in the day over a probe into alleged surveillance abuses. Gowdy, the chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, said that Justice Department Inspector General Michael Horowitz ‘has been fair, fact centric, and appropriately confidential with his work.’”
While Gowdy’s statement countered Trump’s reference to the “I.G.” as an “Obama guy,” coverage of the president’s attack on Horowitz, and the response it triggered also serves Trump’s interests. To date, the Mueller-obsessed media has remained uninterested in Horowitz’s investigation of the “investigation” of Hillary Clinton. But with attention focused on Horowitz, the media has been forced to acknowledge that the inspector general is currently investigating Hillary Clinton.

But there’s more: The day ended with Newsmax (https://www.newsmax.com/newsfront/fisa-house-special-counsel-attorney-general/2018/02/28/id/846057/) reporting that, following Trump’s tweet, there are now calls for the appointment of another special counsel. Penning a letter (https://zeldin.house.gov/media-center/press-releases/rep-zeldin-leads-13-member-letter-calling-doj-appointment-special) on behalf of 13 congressmen, Rep. Lee Zeldin, R-N.Y., called on Sessions to appoint a special counsel “to investigate decisions made by and activities of the Department of Justice and Federal Bureau of Investigation with regards to FISA abuse.”
Trump’s criticism of the attorney general may just serve as the impetus needed for Sessions to appoint a special counsel to take over from the DOJ’s inspector general. And that might well have been Trump’s goal all along—although animal instincts, and not 7-dimension chess, always seem to me the more likely motivator.

House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes, R-Calif., broke with President Trump and said he welcomes Attorney General Jeff Sessions' announcement that the Justice Department's inspector general would investigate alleged abuses of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act.
"I was happy to see Attorney General Jeff Sessions appoint Mr. [Michael] Horowitz, because we welcome more people investigating these serious issues that we're working on," Nunes said in a phone interview Saturday on Fox News.

Trump's attacks on conservative base rockstar like Sessions could be a blunder and would have bigger political cost than kicking out of another base darling Bannon. With latest gun control, path to DACA, stormy Daniels payment scndal headlines showing a staying power, days of Trump being able to 'shoot someone in Time square' without consequences are in the past.

That said, if Mueller/John Kelly continued to humiliate his anti-nepotism champion advisor Kushner, stable genius leader may release some steam again by attacking Sessions as Bannon had implied.

Bannon claim that Trump disparaged Sessions to provide “cover” for Kushner (http://www.ronpaulforums.com/showthread.php?518038-Bannon-claim-that-Trump-disparaged-Sessions-to-provide-%E2%80%9Ccover%E2%80%9D-for-Kushner-could-be-bad-news&)
