TLDR: Man writes op-ed questioning why the SHeriff is paying private bills with taxpayer money, man ends up in jail. Pot butter ...worth the read.

A 20-year-old man was arrested last week and charged with drug trafficking four days after AL.com published comments he made criticizing Etowah County Sheriff Todd Entrekin.

Matthew Qualls questioned why Entrekin paid him to mow the lawn at his personal home in 2015 using taxpayer funds allocated for the feeding of inmates in the county jail. Entrekin confirmed that he personally pocketed some of the funds.

As of Tuesday morning, Qualls faced six charges and was being held on $55,000 bail in the Etowah County jail, which Entrekin oversees. Qualls had not been arrested before, according to state records.

Police say the arrest began with an anonymous tip.

Officers with the Rainbow City Police Department and the Etowah County Drug Enforcement Unit arrested Qualls on Feb. 22 after responding to an anonymous call reporting the odor of marijuana emanating from within a Rainbow City apartment, according to the police report. The drug enforcement unit, which is a team of agents assigned from the Sheriff's Office and other agencies, accompanied the Rainbow City Police officers to the apartment because they were responding to a drug-related call.

The officers knocked on the door and when one of Qualls' friends opened it, the officers could smell marijuana and saw a small quantity of the drug sitting out in the open inside the apartment, according to the arrest report. They added that Qualls was cooperative throughout the entire process.

Officers arrested Qualls after they allegedly found "1,042 grams of cannabis" in his possession inside the apartment, according to an arrest warrant signed by Entrekin.

Seriously - there's more: http://www.al.com/news/birmingham/index.ssf/2018/02/man_arrested_on_six_charges_fo.html

If the pot wasn't planted then the guy is stupid, pot should be legal but it isn't and he knew the Sheriff was a scumbag, poking at a rabid dog with a sharp stick while naked is stupid.

Perhaps at least his stupidity will end up bringing down the filthy pig but he should have found a different way to expose the Sheriff without exposing himself as the source especially since he had the dope charge weakness.

Let's not jump to conclusions and wait till investigations are completed and all facts come out.

Jan 5, 2018 - "The ongoing investigation does not lead us to believe that the fire is any way related to Roy Moore or allegations made against him," Etowah County Sheriff Todd Entrekin said in a statement. Johnson, who claimed Moore groped her in 1991 at his law offices, confirmed to NBC News that her home in ...

Get lost, she probably did it herself for the insurance and to try to smear Moore's reputation further.

Calm down, that was not an attack on conserviative base rockstar Steve Bannon supported judge but was to show sheriff is politically connected though did not added full context and detail.
Now that you have expressed you fervent support for the judge, where do you stand on Ivanka? Do you agree with Bannon when he implied that "Democrats" like her may have cost GOP a Senate seat?

I do not like Ivanka, I don't know how much power or influence she actually has but I don't like her.

Ok, but was not a question of personal liking but political stance. Do you/did you condemn her (or Jarvanka as coined by Bannon) for attacking Judge and for getting Bannon fired/Roy defeated?

That was the context of your question, I don't like her politics but I don't know if she really has that much power or influence.

Silly corrupt Sheriff Todd Entrekin. He did the magic math wrong. Entrekin is falling far short on the frame up. Doesn't he realize that once you put the marijuana in the apartment, the entire apartment becomes marijuana. That could be like over 10 tons of marijuana.

Its one thing to have a corrupt Sheriff, but idiotic corrupt Sheriff's is just not acceptable.

"AL.com published (http://www.al.com/news/birmingham/index.ssf/2018/02/alabama_sheriffs_pocket_tens_o.html) a story about how some Alabama sheriffs pocket tens of thousands of dollars worth of public funds ... new information has surfaced since Jan. 5, when two legal advocacy groups filed a lawsuit (http://www.al.com/news/birmingham/index.ssf/2018/02/alabama_sheriffs_pocket_tens_o.html) against 49 Alabama sheriffs over their "refusal" to provide records of how they spend the money allocated to feed the inmates in their jails. ...

The story quoted remarks Qualls made during an interview with AL.com ... the sheriff paid him $10 an hour to mow his and his parents' Hokes Bluff lawns. What piqued his interest was the fact that the checks he received from Entrekin were printed with the words "Sheriff Todd Entrekin Food Provision Account" in the upper-left corner. ..."
