As Syria continues to pound rebel-held territory outside Damascus, Secretary of State Rex Tillerson has issued a fresh warning to the government of Bashar Assad to stop using chemical weapons, including deadly chlorine gas. In an interview with the CBS program “60 Minutes” Sunday, Tillerson said a strike like the one the U.S. carried out last April is an option if the attacks don’t stop. “When it comes to killing people with chemical weapons,” Tillerson said, “President Trump has already demonstrated there will be consequences.” “Does that mean military action is still on the table for chlorine gas attacks?” asked Margaret Brennan. “As it was in April last year,” Tillerson replied. “We are serious about our demands that chemical weapons not become regularized or normalized as a weapon in any conflict.” Reporters asked Defense Secretary Jim Mattis the same questions while traveling back to the U.S. from a week-long European trip. “I would stand with the secretary of state,” Mattis said.

Military action against anyone, anywhere, for any reason is always on the table. They just make shit up as they go.

Perhaps it is but prospects might have been slightly dimmed due to recent Jarvanka developments.
