A lot of the reason why it hasn't gotten really heated yet is they were trying to pass the tax law so they could bring back a bunch of money before they crashed the Chinese economy again. Last time they crashed the Chinese economy they paraded their nukes on Chinese CCTV and we bailed them out. This time China is surrounded by anti ICBM systems on all sides of their border, even Russia.

I think what is happening is the usual "we're the victim" strategy. The Deep State is doing everything in its power to get NK to attack the US first so it is "clear" who the bad guy is.
