US Creates New Syrian Army Putting Peace Process in Jeopardy

"The US-led coalition is training militants at the Syrian Hasakah refugee camp located 70 kilometers from the border of Turkey and 50 kilometers from the border of Iraq. The New Syria Army is being formed at the location to fight the Syrian government forces in southern Syria. The US Special Operations Forces (SOF) are playing the main role in the process. According to Russia’s Center for Reconciliation of Warring Parties, most of these militants come from Islamic State [ISIS] and Al Nusra Front [Syria's al qaeda affiliate] terrorist groups. Around 750 fighters from Raqqa, Deir-ez-Zor, Abu Kamal and the eastern territories of the Euphrates, including Islamic State terrorists who flew Raqqa in October, are going through the training process.

In November, Russia accused the US of establishing a training camp for militants near Rukban to form a new “moderate” opposition.

The location of the US military base, in Rmeilan district, the Hasakah province, was reported by Anadolu news agency, which unveiled a list of ten US outposts located in areas controlled by Kurdish militias in the provinces of Aleppo, Hasakah and Raqqa. The American forces are strategically placed so as to prevent Syria’s government troops from retaking territory in the northern and southeastern regions. Washington tried to prevent US media from reprinting the story, after it had already appeared in the Turkish media.

The US deployed SOF to northern Syria this summer. The base in Rmeilan has an airfield through which cargo aircraft deliver weapons to the fighters – one of the two major arms routes into the country, along with a land route from Iraq. No doubt, the military bases in Syria are set up in violation of international law on the territory of a sovereign country that has never taken any offensive action towards the US."

Syria Says U.S. Forces Should Leave As Contractors, Diplomats Prepare To Arrive

Defense Secretary Jim Mattis says contractors and diplomats will be sent to Eastern Syria to help stabilize the country.
They will be protected by American troops already there.
Mattis says that besides rebuilding, the increased American presence will make sure diplomatic efforts continue for the future of Syria.
Both Russia and Syria have said U.S. forces should leave.

(Diplomats) Protected not only from any Islamic State fighters but potentially from Syrian government forces who are moving east
with their Russian and Iranian allies. All three countries have pressed U.S. forces to leave,
saying they were never invited into Syria by the regime of Bashar al-Assad.
Mattis noted the Americans and Russians have worked out a demarcation line.

The Americans and their local rebel allies are clearing ISIS to the east of the Euphrates River.
The Russians and their allies handle the area to the west. Mattis said it would be a mistake for the Syrian government
to interfere with that U.S.-led rebuilding effort.

Does this come as a surprise to anyone? If anyone still thinks the agenda of the US in the Middle East is in any way a humanitarian or peaceful effort, they are completely ignorant. Still waiting for Trump to pull out troops like he promised. These presidents want more and more power creating one executive order after another, but never want to use one of the truly beneficial powers the president has, to end our meddling in the affairs of other nations and bringing our Troops home.

There will always be some excuse as to why we can never come home, but with all the money spent, lives lost, and lack of any real progress (hell it's even worse than before) how many people can still defend our worldwide occupation? Any president that continues to do so is certainly not one seeking peace and for that matter, working to fix the economy.

Obviously this is something a lot of the American people want, why else is it that the candidates that always seem to win also always promised to reduce our worldwide footprint and bring troops home, but never actually go through with it... just as Trump wont.
