I know that Rand is pro wood chipper, and chainsaw. Not that Ted Cruz got much traction either with frying bacon on the end of an AR. When did Rand vote for gun control?

It is just a vote in order to invoke cloture and end debate on an amendment. It was a vote to end debate on an amendment to another amendment to another amendment that he knew was going to fail. that is not the same as voting for something.
