"Not outside Local or EST: Start 12am Local, end 11:59pm EST (all counted)" is absolutely the only plan that fully satisfies the requirements of the FEC standard and the Campaign tally. Remember on Nov. 5th they kept saying..."but it will not be official until after the first of the year when the FEC releases the official reports"...well we don't want any wind taken out of our sails at that point. So we have to do it both ways.

Hawaii Time: Donations begin Dec 16th at 12:00 am Hawaii Time, end on 16th at 7:00 pm Hawaii Time.

Alaska Time: Donations begin Dec 16th at 12:00 am Alaska Time, end on 16th at 8:00 pm Alaska Time.

Pacific Time: Donations begin Dec 16th at 12:00 am Pacific Time, end on 16th at 9:00 pm Pacific Time.

Mountain Time: Donations begin Dec 16th at 12:00 am Mountain Time, end 16th at 10:00 pm Mountain Time.

Central Time: Donations begin Dec 16th at 12:00 am Central Time, end on 16th at 11:00 pm Central Time.

Eastern Time: Donations begin Dec 16th at 12:00 am Eastern Time, end on 16th at 12:00 am Eastern Time.

Only Exception: Other/Foreign Timezones: Donations begin Dec 16th at 12:00 am Eastern Time, end on 16th at 12:00 am Eastern Time.

I'd suggest using the 1st cause it's easier to understand and use.

How about when starting to make donations we start at midnight in your time zone, and for the end of donations donate by midnight EST?

That way we can be sure all of them fall within the 24 hour time period no matter how they measure it

This will not work. There are donations that come from Americans living in time zones east of the Eastern Time Zone, such as military personnel living in Europe. If they start donating at 12 midnite their local time, their donation will be made on Saturday, Dec. 15th, EST, and they will not be counted towards the Dec. 16th totals.

ALL donations need to be made 12:01 am to 11:59 pm EASTERN STANDARD TIME. There can be no other option, if we want all donations to count.

It does not matter what times are "easier" to use or remember - what counts is the OFFICIAL time. When the press looks at whether we break the one-day, 24-hour record, they look at the official www.RonPaul2008.com web site, which is on Eastern Standard Time. Donations that came in too early or too late for the Nov. 5th event were not counted towards the $4.2 million.

There has been a lot of disinformation put out there to confuse people... some of this disinfo could be intended to mess up the Tea party. Some people are even claiming that Trevor (or we) changed it to a two-day donation event, which is a BLATANT lie.

No. You must not have read the first post. There is another option, and it is the only correct one. But, you are right--the only exception is people further east than EST/in foreign countries, and that one and only exception was addressed in the first post:

Other/Foreign Timezones: Donations begin Dec 16th at 12:00 am Eastern Time, end on 16th at 12:00 am Eastern Time.

This is clearly stated above. So I don't understand why the plan in the first post is NOT the only correct one based on what you are saying.

I'd suggest using the 1st cause it's easier to understand and use.

It is way better, simpler, than telling people they can donate on the 15th (because it's the 16th in EST)! Those donations are not recognized by the FEC as being on the 16th.

It is easy--donate on the 16th after midnight--but not past midnight EST.

That is the only way to be absolutely sure that every donation will be counted by the Campaign, the media, and the FEC.

ya i voted for the first because it seems like the easiest, but the third one would be fine too.

The third makes the most sense to me, since it's basically compressing the amount of time we're donating. That's reverse of 11/5, when a lot of us die-hards donated as early as possible while a lot of casual people donated later in the day within their timezone which meant we had a lot of spillover onto 11/6 (I think it's still our third biggest day, after 11/5 and 11/30). However, a lot of the people who'd need to know about such coordination might not be reachable, since they're not forum users or don't check the various websites often enough.

So we obviously would need the teaparty mailing list emails and a box on the teaparty site saying exactly this:

I'd say end at 11:45 pm EST in case there's delays. Because I know a bunch of people would like to give one last push at 11:59 like on the 5th, but you never know if there will be delays.

I think to compress it we want local midnight to EST midnight west of EST (the rest of the US), and EST midnight to local midnight east of EST (the rest of the world).

That said, why does the FEC not count it based on EST midnight to EST midnight?

For that matter, since when does the FEC keep track of daily donations? I thought the statement that the FEC would have to confirm it in January was just to make sure the campaign wasn't running up the counter fraudulently.
