Gov. Cuomo didn’t exactly get a “bon voyage” from state Republicans when he jetted off to the Caribbean (http://nypost.com/2017/09/14/cuomo-will-visit-virgin-islands-to-assess-damage-from-irma/) on Friday to assess damage from Hurricane Irma (http://nypost.com/tag/hurricane-irma/).
“We have serious problems in New York, including with our subway system, and the most we can expect from the Governor is a good headline or photo op, with no attention paid to actually managing the nuts and bolts of managing the state,” GOP Chairman Ed Cox said in a release.
“Now he’s on an unnecessary trip to the Virgin Islands when he needs to come home and do the job New Yorkers are paying him to do,” he added.
Cox empathized with residents in the battered Virgin Islands, but suggested that Cuomo’s trip would be of little use and was merely a publicity tour to garner national headlines for a possible 2020 presidential run.
