Trump was strongly anti-abortion in his campaign and signaled that he wanted the government to stop funding it and was going to pick pro-life supreme court justices. He has already made progress and been successful in that area. That is a very strong signal of the direction things are headed, that is the only thing that is important here.

It doesn't matter what the sentiment of the country is, especially when it is still around 50/50.. If the government is passing women's healthcare funding bills and moving in the direction in funding more abortion then using your capital to invest in purchasing an abortion clinic is not going to make any difference. Because of the direction we are going, with Trump, the Supreme Court and his views on funding abortion it actually made sense for them to do it in this case.
