Washington (CNN)President Donald Trump will donate $1 million of his fortune to recovery efforts in Texas, though the White House says he hasn't determined which group or groups will receive the donation.

"He would like to join in the efforts that a lot of people we have seen across the country do," press secretary Sarah Sanders told reporters at the White House, saying the funds would come from the President's "personal money."

She said the President hadn't determined which organization to support.

"He actually asked that I check with the folks in this room since you are very good at research and have been doing a lot of reporting into the groups and organizations that are best and most effective in helping and providing aid, and he'd like some suggestions from the folks here and I'd be happy to take those," she said during the daily press briefing.

On Tuesday, the President's campaign asked supporters to donate to charities involved in the Texas recovery effort. Sanders couldn't say on Tuesday afternoon or Wednesday whether the President had yet donated funds himself, saying only that he was looking into it.

Asked Thursday whether the donation would come from Trump's own fortune or from the coffers of the Trump Organization, Sanders indicated she wasn't sure legally where the donation would originate, but that it would be the President's personal money.

White House announces Trump will donate $1million of his own money to the Harvey relief funds as he tweets picture of cops in a multi-faith prayer circle

White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders has announced that President Donald Trump is donating $1million of his own money to victims of Hurricane Harvey in Texas.

'He'll pledge, proudly, $1 million of his own personal money to help the people of Texas and Louisiana,' spokeswoman Sarah Sanders told reporters.

The White House did not say whether the money would come from Trump or his foundation.

The news comes a day after Sanders said in a press conference that she was unsure of the amount that Trump and the First Lady were willing to donate from their personal funds.

Following the announcement, Trump tweeted a photo of those who first responded and who were gathered in a prayer circle.

Yeah, I can see it now:

'Trump should have donated $1,000,001, only donates a million.'

They split hairs over the dumbest stuff, desperate to turn non-stories into breaking news.

Someone ask him to call for the lifting of all gouging laws! That would do more to help these people than any amount he could donate!

Sorry to sound like a broken record here, but dammit people are suffering! Get the government out of the way and let the resources get where they need to go!!!!

$1 is more than I've done.

That is a really nice thing to do. If more people would do this voluntarily, perhaps they might see that government isn't the only solution.

Your own article appears contradictory. It first said, "Several said the checks were dated on or about May 24 — the date as Trump’s interview with the Post — and shipped out overnight." The article later reads, But the biggest batch [of checks] appeared to have gone out around May 24,..." So "several" turned into "the biggest batch?"

Other items in your article:

"On Jan. 30, just before the campaign’s leadoff caucuses in Iowa, he gave a $100,000 check to the Puppy Jake Foundation,..."

"The next day, in Council Bluffs, Trump presented another check, also for $100,000, to Partners for Patriots,..."

"The public presentations trickled off within days, though some of the groups contacted by the AP did report receiving checks in February, March and April."

So your article appears to be a claptrap short on details. And why the delay? Trump himself said he wanted to vet the charities.* That makes sense. I once worked with people who worked with donors. You don't just Google a list of organizations and write a check. You need to do research. You find out what they do. You talk with people at those organizations. Trump gave to over 40 vet organizations. That takes some time.

Ah yes; the typical entitled mentality from Zip and his greedy, selfish liberal friends. A person with money gives several million dollars to 40+ organizations, and what do these selfish people do? They badger someone.

Do you criticize Soros the same way? Or would that be biting the hand that feeds you?
