I'm sure it is a simple misunderstanding. Poor Huckleberry just doesn't realize that AIDS patients are living, breathing human beings. It's not his fault that he blames the victims and thinks they deserve to die for engaging in risky behaviors in the first place.

I dare ANY Huckabee supporter to watch The Ryan White Story and tell me with a straight face that he should have been quarantined, and that this is somehow a "gay disease." White was just a kid who wanted to live, but represented so much more about our society.

I remember back in high school, there was a kid with HIV in our school that wouldn't be revealed unless he/she hurt herself and it became necessary, for fear of public humiliation. You wouldn't believe the humiliation a lot of these kids had to go through because of the same kind of misinformation Huckabee spread (and some of his supporters still spread, if you read their forum on the topic).

It makes me sick to my stomach to think about it. I have HIV+ friends, and they've done nothing wrong. Some of the nicest folks I've ever met, left to deal with very unfortunate circumstances.
