And the real bitch for me is that you can't give the used ones away. Not that it's illegal, but why would anybody "settle" for a used one when they get the insurance company to buy them a brand new one to use for the last 5 months of their life?

(I know that sounds callous, but I own a small second hand store, and we sadly joke about those things being the kiss of death.)

I once went to the movies to watch Wall-E with my kids. I thought this would be a great bonding moment etc. Soon I found out that what I was watching was a glimpse into our future. If you haven't seen it find the time to. Little things in the movie like the seal on the podium of the CEO reads "CEO of the World" and behold, we have Trump. Everyone is on floating scooters marketed to like slugs. "Red is new Blue". Were all sheep at that point and have left a world in ruin.

Over the years I have noticed most Libertarians are young males that are broke and sexually repressed . Now being broke or repressed is OK one at a time but both at the same time is kind of a bummer . I encourage them to get out and mingle .

Well, if you're just hanging around with members of the LP, you're not really learning much about libertarians. The LP is mostly conservatives and Objectivists with a mild libertarian streak. You should attend an event hosted by a real libertarian group like Mises Institute, Center For A Stateless Society, etc.

I am regtd. gop but we have an active libertarian party in a couple counties here . The county my cottage in the woods is in they even have a monthly meeting .

I was in the store a couple of days ago and noticed a middle aged woman pushing her elderly mother in a wheel chair. I thought that if the younger lady was really trying to help the elder she would have her walking. Then my thought drifted to all the middle aged obese people I see on scooters at the grocery and big box stores. Society is enabling obesity.

My mom had one until she couldn't safely ride it. My sisters and I bought it a free years back and she had it... oh I dunno... 3 years maybe.

So about 6 months ago some kids of this friend of hers asks if she'd be okay with giving it to their mom. She agreed to but told them the batteries were dead from sitting and didn't charge anymore.

They told her that was okay, they could fix it, and loaded up the scooter. We didn't care, her sight is too bad to ride it anymore.

Well, then the harassment started. The kids called my mom daily insisting she write them a check for batteries and repairs. Hounded my 81 year old mother until she agreed to write them a check.

Needless to say, when we found out about this crap, it ended. Sis made a phone call to them and told them to shove it.

Mom said they ended up getting a gubmint new one for free. Probably junked hers instead of putting $80 into batteries.

Yep. 90% of the scooters that people want to bring us have less than a year of use, but the batteries are dead from sitting in the garage for a few years. They all want to sell them to us for half of retail, but we can't even get $100 for them when they do work. It's a total boondoggle.
