If at first you don’t secede…try, try again. People in California are looking at ways to increase local sovereignty or even secede — and it can be done peacefully. Marcus Ruiz Evans of YesCalifornia explains why, and how a Constitutional Convention is now in sight to create a formal process for states to secede as the EU has Article 50 being used for BREXIT.

I'm not in favor of a convention to solve this, as I do not think it is needed.

Just go.

The effort will fail once the California libs realize how much fake money they're going to lose. They're crying and moaning right now over funding being cut for cops because of sanctuary cities.

California actually sends more tax dollar to the Federal Government than they get back (red states tend to be the more net tax receiving states). They rank #43 in that list.

Actually...the LA Times busted that graph as a myth.

Actually it still says California pays more than it gets- the article just says the difference is less than that chart shows. (I put up a couple new chart from Mises).

Perhaps more accurate is a 2015 state-by-state review compiled by New York officials, one that puts California much closer to breaking even — about 99 cents in federal services for every real dollar in taxes.

It adds:

Even then, Trump needs California to prosper. Almost 1 in 8 Americans lives here, and the state has created more than 2.4 million jobs since the current economic expansion began seven years ago. He may not like the state’s politics, but Trump the businessman would be wise to see California as a good investment.

Also keep in mind that the Federal Government spends about $1 for every $.80 it takes in.

Good riddance either way.

Good riddance either way.

There isn't a serious movement anyways. It is just a few guys right now.

One thing I will say though is that it seems calexit is primarily a left wing movement. It seems left-wing secessionist movements get more media attention then the right wing ones.

We'll see how peaceful it goes when ca realizes they will need to assume their portion of the us national debt upon leaving.

Huge military related spending there. Is that figured in?

As a native Californian, I can tell you that it s NOT filled with a bunch of lefties. They are just the loudest.

California is a great place and I do not understand the hate for it; also I think it will not be allowed to secede any more than the South was- just a lotta noise.

I was wondering that... those graphics have Virginia as one of the top tax-suckers, but can you really say Virginia is the recipient of federal funding when it comes to keeping the lights on at the Pentagon? Or running any of the war machine at Ft Belvoir, Norfolk, Quantico (both the Marines and the FBI), etc, etc, etc?

Outside of the war pork, we have an interstate system and some national forests. I can't think of much else.

I don't think the situation is at all the same in California.

A lot of fruits and nuts come from California, more than any other state I believe.

You're assuming the FED GOV will LET California secede. LMAO. Even if California voted 100% for #calexit... no chance in hell it would ever happen without a fight.

Why do you think they'll lose money? We send money to almost every country in the damned world - why not them?
