We at the Tidewater Virginia Ron Paul 2008 Meetup Group (http://ronpaul.meetup.com/31/) aren't the first to do it. I first saw someone somewhere did it 2 or 3 months ago and it looks really good when you're done. From that moment, I knew I had to do it to my Civic (now the Honda Civic Duty :p). Since then, I've seen someone somewhere with a Beetle with the hood and trunk wrapped, and within the past week, this guy (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5SW-Gg8FzG4) made it on his local myFOX Houston news broadcast with his Hyundai, and then, FOX NEWS, of all places, rebroadcast it nationally.

Lee Rippy helped a lot with the sticker-job and most of the stickers were provided by Terri K.

Very cool. Ideas:

You can add some stripes or patterns to save on stickers to give away.

Spell the letters RP on the doors to grab attention from very far away.

Yeah, we thought about both of those...after we were done, haha. We were thinking that if we did another car, we might see if we can get Red, White, and Blue bumper stickers and arrange them in a patriotic pattern across the car to really make it stand out.
Now that you've brought it up, does anybody have any cool ideas for ways to improve this whole car-wrapping concept?
We pretty much blindly copied those who had done it before.

Wow! I have an old car sitting in my d-way that I could probably do that to. I don't think that it will take much to get it going again and it is kinda a spare.

Anybody got some stickers I could use? I doubt I could afford to buy that many right now..

What is that about 1,000 stickers?

It should be about 500 or 600, but I'm not really sure. I'll take a look at it later and estimate it so people can get an idea of how many they'll need to buy if they want to do this.

Of course, probably your best bet is to go (forgive my ignorance) to one of those sites. One of them does 10 cents a piece for orders of 1,000 or more. So, let's say it takes 600 stickers. If you went in on an order with someone else who got 400, you'd pay $60 to wrap your car.

If the Air Force didnt have the stupid "one bumper sticker for elections" regulation I'd TOTALLY do this as my paint is already peeling :P Looks cool guys!

lol. Somebody at work today said I should get the campaign to pay me to drive around in my car. I told him "I'd rather he spend that money on advertising in the early primary states." :p

I would do this to the minivan but I don't have the money to spare.

If anyone wants to send me some bumper stickers then I'm down.

Where are those slick looking wraps where you could add anything you want. Add Ron Paul's issues, that he's running for President and all that stuff. That would be effective.

But damn that's crazy.

Seriously. That's a very good idea. There could be incentives for the winner. Would get tons of free local media in all the communities of the participants.

I wonder if they could do different designs though.

hmmmm, that's true...wow, think if he put up like a $10,000 prize, he'd have thousands of these things roaming the streets. It would be hard to prevent fraud though :-/

Hate to say it, but bumper stickers don't come off easily. Your car's gonna need a new paintjob after you take all those off.

No way I am doing that to my Mustang. I will stick with what I have right now.

What are you talking about?
All you have to do is apply heat. They come off easily without leaving any residue.
Bumper stickers back in the day used to have that problem. Cars didn't have all the clear-coat that they have now and bumper stickers used to use much harsher adhesives. Bumper stickers are specifically designed to be easy to remove now. I had to take some of them off to fix them because they were crooked and didn't have any problem. If you use a hair dryer or small heater they practically fall off. This isn't the 80's, people! :-P

That's right. Adhesive chemistry has come a long way. Our bumper stickers have a moderately aggressive adhesive and will peel right off in one piece in a matter of seconds with no heat, leaving zero residue in the process. Our silk-screened vinyl stickers should not harm the finish on your car. We have the highest quality vinyl stickers at the lowest prices in bulk.

Dude, +10 points for jumping on the perfect opportunity to plug your bumper stickers!

Well, I might as well help you. Most of the bumper stickers used came from an unidentified distributer, long story. You'll notice that some of them, however, are the ones sold at RonPaulGrassrootsHQ.com (http://www.ronpaulgrassrootshq.com/). Also, the next 100, which will be used to do the roof, finish the bumpers, and hit some other spots, are the ones sold at RonPaulGrassrootsHQ.com (http://www.ronpaulgrassrootshq.com/).

From their site:
"Ron Paul President 2008 Bumper Stickers - We're your headquarters for Ron Paul bumper stickers! High quality vinyl, easily removable (These bumper stickers peel off clean!) # See product details for a great grassroots campaign idea!"

thats great. now if we could just get more people to utilize the free advertising space on their cars we could really make a dent..... maybe instead of a march to washington...... a long procession of cars all done up in RP gear a few miles long making a trek to DC could be quite interesting.
