Look What’s Happened to Food Stamp Participation Under Trump

The one thing Obama can boast about as part of his disgraced legacy is the absurd increase in food stamp participation, which is hardly anything to be proud of.

Typical Democrats – they prefer their voters uninformed and relying on government assistance.

Now, however, since President Trump has taken over and boosted the economy, giving Americans JOBS and real hope, the participation rate is dropping.

So much for Barry’s “legacy” now, huh?

Rather than keep the American people dependent on government handouts, President Trump is putting the country back to work, giving the a way to feel proud again, and to earn an honest living.

Obama couldn’t have cared less about that, because hard work and pride are alien concepts to Democrats.

From Breitbart

Participation in the food stamp program took a dive to the lowest level it has been in seven years, according to new data from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA).

USDA statistics on Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) participation showed that 42,609,852 people in the U.S. took part in the food stamp program in fiscal year (FY) 2017, the lowest level it has been since 2010 when 40,302,000 people enrolledin the program.

In 2014, after House Republicans pushed hard for deeper cuts to the program, Obama agreed to an 8.7 billion cut.

This was Obama’s way of appeasing House Republicans and the ONLY reason the program saw any decrease under Obama.

And in more “good news” there’s a push on the federal level to initiate a “food stamp work requirement” program, requiring people to work or be actively seeking work in order to qualify for assistance.

Nothing special Trump can claim to have done. It has been declining as the economy has improved with actual total numbers falling since their peak in 2013 (three years now).

From Breitbart: http://www.breitbart.com/big-government/2017/07/20/food-stamp-use-falls-lowest-level-seven-years/

Starting in 2014, the number of people on food stamps started to decline slowly. The decline in enrollment began as a combination of the Obama administration’s slight cuts to the food stamp program in the 2014 Farm Bill and state efforts to curb prolonged food stamp dependency.

Obama signed an $8.7 billion food stamp cut into law as a way to placate House Republicans in early 2014 after they pushed for deeper cuts to the program throughout 2013.

Based on your graph, it is still a substantial decrease from the more incremental decreases in previous years.

Much like the drop in illegal immigration, perhaps just rattling the sword is enough to scare some off.

In any case, it is a good thing, so take as a positive and don't be immediately contrary.

See, Zip, this is why people are "rep burning" you.

Maybe then it's more accurate to say look what happens when Democrats lose the House and Senate.

When even Breitbart attributes the decrease to Obama, it's probably not Trump.

To be fair, it's mostly environmental/economic factors which no president really controls.
