It was bound to happen and I'm surprised it doesn't more often...

One batch of hens ratting out a family member who looses her kid and then goes off killing family members and a government employee.

This article is long, too long for a copy-paste...

The phone rang around 8 a.m. Aug. 7 at the central Vermont farmhouse of Rhonda Herring. The caller was her cousin Jody Herring — and she was mad.

"You guys need to stop calling DCF unless you guys are going to have it coming to you," Jody Herring said, directing her anger at Rhonda Herring, 48, along with Rhonda's sister Regina Herring, 43, and their mother, Julie Ann Falzarano, 73, according to a relative.

That Friday afternoon, Jody Herring, a 40-year-old mother of three who had a history of custody battles, would make at least two more phone calls, both to her brother Dwayne Herring. The two never spoke. Jody left messages.

"If you think anything of your sister, you'll get a hold of me now or ASAP," she said in the first, at 2:56 p.m.

"Watch the news," Jody Herring said four minutes later, "and you'll wish you got a hold of me earlier."

Less than two hours later, Jody Herring was pinned by passers-by in the parking lot of a state office building in Barre. A .270-caliber, bolt-action Remington rifle lay on the sidewalk.
