The majority of lawmakers sponsoring legislation to raise the minimum wage to $15 an hour do not pay their interns, according to a report (https://www.minimumwage.com/2017/06/compensation-hypocrisy-on-capitol-hill-15-minimum-wage-supporters-hire-unpaid-interns/) from the Employment Policies Institute.
The Raise the Wage Act, which would increase the minimum wage to $15 an hour by 2024, was introduced (https://cpc-grijalva.house.gov/press-releases/congressional-progressive-caucus-applauds-introduction-of-15-raise-the-wage-act/) by the Congressional Progressive Caucus in May.
"The federal minimum wage has been a stagnant $7.25 for far too long, forcing workers to juggle multiple jobs while barely making ends meet," the caucus said in a statement. "For years, the Congressional Progressive Caucus and progressive groups like Fight for $15 and Good Jobs Nation have fought for workers' right to a living wage and have continued to show how low wages impact the daily lives of working families."
However, the analysis conducted by the Employment Policies Institute shows that the majority of the lawmakers who have co-sponsored the measure do not pay their interns a wage at all. The study found that of the 184 lawmakers who supported the bill, 174, or 95 percent did not pay their interns.

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I., Vt. ) is the only lawmaker who pays his interns at $12 an hour, which is still less than what the legislation demands for the private sector.

Most interns are volunteers. http://govcentral.monster.com/education/articles/1799-congressional-research-service-internship

Benefits: Although CRS volunteer internships do not offer financial compensation, students may be able to earn college credit. Interested applicants should check with their college placement office/career center to learn more about how to receive credit for volunteer internships.

Looks like Sander's interns get paid the most of anybody (Martin Heinrich matches him). Rand Paul offers his some stipend. http://www.payourinterns.com/paid-senateinternships/

Every summer, thousands of college students descend upon DC to intern in Congress. It's the perfect opportunity to see first-hand how the legislative process works and a good way to get a foot in the door in politics. The majority of members of Congress don’t pay their interns. To make matters worse, living and interning in DC even for a summer will set these students back thousands of dollars. According to a Time Magazine article, unpaid internships can cost upwards of $6,200 when you factor in air travel, rent, transportation, suits and food costs. This means a good number of Millennials simply can’t afford to intern in Congress.

SENATOR BERNIE SANDERS

Perhaps no member of Congress feels more passionate about paying their interns than Senator Sanders who pays all of them $12/hr. The deadline to apply for the summer is March 17 and preference is given to those who are from Vermont. For more information and how to apply, go to his website.

SENATOR RAND PAUL

Gives interns an option of either receiving a stipend or college credit. The deadline is this Friday March 10, so apply fast! For more information and how to apply, go to his website.

With machines doing more and more of the production work, a market would find other beneficial jobs, like interpersonal services, arts and entertainment, personal health care services, prostitution on a grand scale etc.

Instead governments steal that 'excess productivity' to expand the surveillance and regulatory state (25% of the workforce in France). In addition many private sector 'jobs' exist only to comply with the byzantine cancerous labyrinth of rules.

[EDIT] and of course a bloated military
