The Register's decision to exclude U.S. Rep. Ron Paul from its comparisons of six Republican presidential candidates is disappointing, especially since he provides such a sharp contrast with the others. Your stated reason for excluding him is that he hasn't spent enough time in Iowa, in spite of the fact that he's in fifth place in your own poll and is one of only two candidates who have been steadily rising in your polls.

Your own David Yepsen even suggests in his Dec. 2 column that Paul might finish third ("Little Time Remains to Patch Weak Spots").

Time spent in Iowa is a silly reason to decide whether to report on a candidate. The two candidates who spent the most time in Iowa have already dropped out. Two of the candidates you have chosen for us skipped the Iowa Straw Poll. Some of the candidates you have chosen have become scarce lately. Their campaigns may be bankrupt by now, and they aren't likely to be in the race long after the Iowa caucuses.

Paul is one of the few candidates running a truly nationwide campaign - he's not just putting all his eggs in the Iowa basket.

The Paul campaign is a genuine grassroots movement that is growing exponentially and capturing headlines nationwide with its energy and volunteer-led record-breaking fundraising. He even leads all candidates in donations from members of the military. Reconsider your decision.

There's already been a thread on this today - but the main thing people need to know is they should click the link and recommend this letter - NO NEED TO REGISTER to do this. We have 66 recommendations so far - the second most recommended item I could find on the website today was the one on Oprah-Obama with 12 recommends.

This is a great way to get the attention of the editors - they look at what story is getting the most reads on their site. So click the link now - only takes a second and click "recommend"
