Many of you have seen the coverage of the Ron Paul Rally from the Des Moines Register online:

http://desmoinesregister.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070701/NEWS09/707010342/-1/caucus

I have the actual paper in my hand and the printed layout is definitely kind to Ron Paul.

The headline on the top of the Metro/Iowa section is "Romney's abortion view draws jabs". This story is about the ITR/ICA forum and continues on page 2. The Ron Paul story is on page 2. It is much shorter than the forum story but appears nicely in the middle of the page, saying "Paul, uninvited to GOP forum, attracts a loyal flock for rally". There is a great picture of Dr. Paul (same as the website) that is about 5.5 by 3.75 inches.

At the bottom of the page are excerpts of the speeches from the 6 candidates at the forum. There is a picture of each of them but they are only 1.5 by 1.75 inches and unflattering for every one.

At the very top of the page is Dave Yepsen's column where he says some good things about Dr. Paul:

Yeah, this was definitely flattering coverage.

In the forums over there at the DMR, one Iowan who had previously been arguing that it was OK that Ron Paul wasn't invited because he "doesn't have a support network in Iowa" completely changed his tune.

He said that 600 or 1,000 attendees didn't make much difference, and that either way it shows that he should have been invited.

Man, I was thrilled to hear just that little concession. :)

It's the remnants of liberty, waiting for a person like Dr. Paul.

Did you read this in the Comments?

Below will run as a 2 x 3 in the national weekly edition of the Washington Times and on www.iowapolitics.com.

THE "FAIR TAX" FLAT TAX
is the road to serfdom. Never
make it too easy to collect taxes.
In politics "fair" usually spells

Pretty obvious the GOP prefers a carefully scripted presidential campaign version of a revival of "Oklahoma" with everyone singing on key.

Hats off to Ron Paul.

Nevertheless did you know there is one federal subsidy so sacred he won't touch it? To Paul there's no higher American value than divorce. Wouldn't be much if the feds ended subsidizing divorce by funding state family courts, child support collection, etc. Without those subsidies women, who initiate 80% plus of divorces today, might have to make an sincere effort to keep their families together. No need to try to bother doing that when the government guarantees the wife leaves with the children, 1/2 the family assets, and a pension in the form of child support.

It doesn't look like he's on the list of presidential candidates.

Here are a couple of nice mentions of RP in Yepson's story on the fraudulent Iowans for Tax Relief forum: http://desmoinesregister.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070701/OPINION01/707010327/-1/ENT06

The significance of Saturday's candidate forum was diminished by the decision of three leading GOP contenders - Rudy Giuliani, John McCain and Fred Thompson (who hasn't formally entered the race) - to not attend. It was also diminished by the decision of organizers to not allow Ron Paul to participate.

(It's hard to have a very meaningful event when the party's leading candidates - and one of its leading thinkers on tax issues - won't, or can't, show up.)

It would be very helpful to have the Des Moines Register as a friend. Be nice to them.
