What time are you donating on Dec 16th?

My opinion,
It is important to get the momentum moving in the right direction. I think all serious Ron Paulites (i.e. you!) should consider donating (at least a portion) just after midnight. This will ensure early press coverage. Once the media sees strong movement, they'll start the running with this story. This well help remind other potential donars that this is THE day to make a big donation!

For those in Hotel California and the Pacific Rim area ... remember to donate on before Sunday Midnight on the East Coast! We want you amount to count towards the big headline number. Last time we had a huge spill over on to Nov 6th.

...don't you just love the "east coast bias" lol

3:15 AM (ET) = 12:15 Pacific , where I am.

I like the idea of everyone STARTING their donation period shortly after midnite in their own time zone, but ENDING it before midnite Eastern Time.

By getting all donations in by Eastern Time benchmark, we ensure maximum dollar count on the official day.

Donors to the west who wait until midnite in their own time zones will provide a building push and help cover the wee hours when most people are sleeping in time zones to the east.

This strategy also gives you a better shot at seeing your name, at least if you wait until the first surge starts tapering. Here's some interesting math: If there are 40,000 donations in the 18 hours from 6 AM to 11:59 PM (ET), each name can be displayed for only 1.6 seconds on average, unless either the tape runs late or a provision is made to display more than 1 name at a time. The latter would be a good solution but would require programming; I don't recall that it was done on Nov. 5th.

I've seen you talking about it and I'd like to encourage you to stick to EST, just to be sure you're donating on the right day ;)

I'm lucky enough to be on EST but if I was on west coast I'd wait til my clock chimed twelve just for the self-satisfaction of donating on the day of the 16th. All I know is that on monday morning I will care less as to which hour was the most productive I'll be to busy making sure everyone knows about what just happened.

how much do you think we'll raise in the first hour? 12am to 1am EST?

My guess is $400k. If we do that we'll be set for a great day because the media will have their indication that a story will be in the making!

My vote will be whenever I wake up. Since it is a sunday, and Is my only day to sleep in, lord only knows when it will actually happen.

Make it random. Last thing we want is to shut down their servers cause everyone donated at 7am :p

I have a stupid family Christmas to go to so I'll miss out on most of the fun. I'll probably donate in the morning before I go. Hopefully we're already at a couple million before then! When I get back around 6-7 PM, I expect us to have already broken $5 million at the very least!

I'm sure they are prepared for the massive traffic on that day...

it's better to cordinate than to do this randomly. For isn't this why we cordinate our donation all on one day in the first place?!?

I know the purests out there may think this is silliness, but lets face it, the media eats this stuff up! Make no mistake about it, this whole thing is a big game.

According to the early returns on this poll ....

1/6th of us hardcore supporters will donate in the first hour. If we have 10,000 hardcore supporters and 16.6% each donate 100 bucks in the first hour, that will equal $166,666 bucks in the first hour. I think we can beat that.

I think the average donation is going to be over $200. A lot of people did their $100 the first time, but are doing as much as they can this time. There are still going to be many smaller donations, but a lot are going to do as much as they can. I know I will.

great ... are you going to do this during the first hour? I think it would be helpful for us to start out strong.

Everybody should donate early: http://www.ronpaulforums.com/showthread.php?t=50500&page=4&highlight=donate+early

JWallace sums up the reasons to donate early quite nicely:

"Donate as early as you can on Dec. 16. The best strategy would be to donate after 12am, before going to bed.

Why?

1) Lower website traffic than during the daylight hours on Dec. 16.
2) Easier cc/payment processing.
3) Big early morning results will give the MSM something to report first thing in morning
4) Media coverage+Early $'s = Bigger snowball, momentum.
5) Frees you up to go to Boston (or other local Tea Party) event."

Donate before people get up around 7 or 8 am. This will provide motivation for those who were on the fence about donating and might make people who did donate to donate even more as we get closer and closer to 10 million. We likely wont get that high, but if we get close, people will try to hit that mark.
