The primaries are just around the corner and this state really could use some Paul billboards. This state I believe would be an easy state to canvas with a population of around 4.5 million. There are 3 key cities I believe we need to have an ad up and running with. New Orleans, Baton Rouge, and Lafayette. I am currently working on a layout for the billboard but it can be adapted more later. We just need to get this idea off the ground first. These cities have a huge student population with Universities including, ULL, LSU and Tulane.

The Baton Rouge one has a 18+ Population of 405,000 the monthly rate is 3,750 and the billboard is 14x48 feet. The average views a day is 155,000.

The New Orleans one is 14x48 also has 934,000 18+ people costs 6.900 month and seen by 80,000 people a day.

These are cheap ways to spread the word I think we can raise these funds pretty easily we can reach around 1.5 million in just these two cities which makes up around 1/3 of the entire state population. I think a goal of around 20k would have 3 billboards up for maybe 2 months depending on the rate cut they give us for additional months.

Anyone have past experience in this area please respond we needs some people with this.

I fully support and agree with this idea.
I currently have a ChipIn going for large canvas signs
cuz I could not garner enough support for the LARGE
billboard style ones.

However, I truly believe that the South NEEDS one,
maybe on Earhart Expressway? THAT would get tons
of exposure by working class citizens!

PM me and we can brainstorm!

What kind of help do you need? If it's design, I'll help and most billboard companies have designers.

We want to be billboard central so join us in our cause. We are methodically moving through each primary state and putting up billboards prior to the primary. I see that Louisiana is Feb 9th. So we should have time to do a campaign there in January. I have great contacts with billboard companies and they can broker deals for us nationwide. We are currently launching an Iowa digital billboard in the next day or so. Currently we are raising funds for our NH campaign. Lets work together in the future, garner support for the cause in your area through your contacts and we will help make this happen. Contact me if you want to work together.

Ya this is my design so far I took the graphic from another member the tear away flyer. Here is a rough draft it is the correct aspect ratio of a digital media screen. The white on the left side is in debate and needs to be filled I think with some stances that ron paul has with key issues.

At this point, I'm sure we need financial help most of ALL.
I can do some artwork and I know Jahazii has some already - if not, we'll def put the call out to all graphic artists and I'll be in contact. If you have some ideas, pitch'em in! the more the merrier.

Update -
mainly for Jahazii ***

I am going to be in contact with a few of the MeetUp leaders THIS Saturday at the big Gun Show down here in NOLA. I sent an email to the billboard guy above and if we can get some basic info prepared and ready, I'll submit it to the MeetUps that attend the gun show and report back on what the general consensus is in regards to financial support or volunteer work, etc etc.

I'll keep you posted!

Ok. When you're designing, just remember people wont have time to read a bunch. One of my clients is a billboard company. I could put you in touch with their lead designer if you want some 'Effective Billboard' tips.

Also, remember digital boards flip messages... you're not necessarily stuck with one.

Also, regular billboards are cheaper and work fine.

good luck... hit me up if you need me.

Here is another draft of the proposed display. It has more work to do and the words on the left can be updated and switched key issues since it a digital display. I am just trying to garner more support for this and maybe graphic designers can touch this up.

Thanks

Are you involved in a meetup group?

Alexandria got its first billboard today. I'll post pictures later on.

The New Orleans meetup is at this moment working on (I think) 3 billboards.

The Alex meetup had a donor who wishes to remain anonymous.

Also, Louisiana is a caucus state, so dont' kill yourself with this idea.

With so much text on this design, is this at an area where traffic is stopped?

Get in touch with you local meet-up organizer... we need delegate pronto! Also, need people to vote for delegates... if you don't know what i'm talking about... contact you local meet-up organizer. This is very important. Ron Paul cannot win with delegates in our state.
This is not an exaggeration, our primary vote doesn't count for anything, only the delegate votes count.

Okay - I sent out the mass emails to my MeetUp group and plan to talk to them in person this Saturday at the gun show. Jahazii - one thing about that design is that there are way too many words.

I have been in contact with the Founder of www.ronpaulbillboards.com
and he suggested we use a maximum of 7 words, which I totally agree with.
I have a design forthcoming depecding on the response from the MeetUps and financial needs. Also, this idea is for the entire country. I am simply trying to get the ball rolling on the first two in New Orleans.

contact me at NOPD 1010 at gmail.com for comments and questions or if you can help either financially or through contacts and volunteer your time!

The MeetUp for New Orleans should have my mass email. Haven't heard much back yet, though. I'll know more by this weekend!
