View Full Version : Why is a MOAB not a WMD?

So I was listening to talk radio the other day with the host almost having verbal orgasms about how great the MOAB is. No discussion of whether or not this was the right policy decision mind you. One air force ordinance specialist called in to point out that the MOAB, which is detonated above ground, not only destroys everything in its path, but it sucks out the oxygen so that anything within a mile radius that somehow survives the blast (maybe deep down far enough in a cave) is killed by suffocation. So...here's my question. How is that any better than...say....dropping poison gas on someone? With poison gas at least I have the possibility of living if I have a gas mask. I suppose I could survive a MOAB if I had an oxygen tank.

Of course we know that everything was a-okay because there was nobody at the compound but ISIS/ISIL/IS/Whatever fighters right? I mean, when these fighters are in Syria they use human shields, but apparently when they are in Afghanistan they are careful to keep all civilians outside of a mile radius of their facilities so that the U.S. can bomb with impunity without and danger of killing little kids. (Of course that unfortunate accident where the U.S. Air Force bombed a "Doctors Without Border" hospital will be conveniently forgotten.)

You know how sluts are women who have sex with other people but not you?

WMDs are weapons that other people use.

Why is a MOAB not a WMD?

Obviously, a MOAB is a WMD - except when the US uses it.

That's why it's called "American exceptionalism" ...

I agree that it is . However , if I am a 20 yr old FO ( forward abservor ) and have it available that would not stop me from calling it in on an enemy position . Question is really , should it be available ?

Its afghanistan, there's not a lot there to destroy to begin with. I don't think a few terrorists and their goats count as "mass destruction"

It is. And so are a number of other systems. Which is why hardly any police/military use Krav that I know of. But don't tell teh jooz or teh Krav salesgeeks.

Why is a military campaign that is NAMED "Shock and Awe" not recognized as terrorism?
Why is us causing the death of 500,000 kids "worth it" (per Madeline Allbright) but someone else (supposedly) gases several dozen civilians and that triggers a few dozen tomahawk missiles in "retaliation" ("quotes" because the initial attack wasn't against us at any rate)?
Why can't certain countries have nuclear weapons "because they are crazy enough to actually use them", but they are being denied nuclear weapons by the only country that has ACTUALLY ever used them in combat?
Why did my premiums and deductibles go up, and the quality of my healthcare went down?
Why did all of Trump's critics suddenly go silent? (OK I mean the ones that actually have a voice, aka the media, not you guys)
Why do muh roads cost so much freedom?

Because... the
WOPR spends all its time thinking about World War III.

Chemical weapons are banned by international agreement? It's not just the USA making the rules. However the USA is not a signatory to the international cluster bomb ban. And yet accuse Assad in Syria of war crimes for using Barrel bombs.

Names can be deceptive, WMD that was dropped on Japan's civilian population center was named "little boy" if I'm not mistaken.

But this looks like a WMD even if NBC neocons, Brian Williams et al declare it "beautiful".
