Hundreds of protesters gathered in cities across the US to speak out against President Donald Trump’s missile strikes on a Syrian airbase. Despite the demonstrations being mostly peaceful, there were arrests.

“Emergency” protests were held Friday in at least a dozen US cities. They were largely organized on social media by the Act Now to Stop War and End Racism (ANSWER) Coalition, which called the US assertion that the Syrian government carried out attacks on its own people “unsubstantiated” and demanded an independent investigation.

New York City
In downtown Manhattan, protesters gathered at Trump Tower and Union Square. Footage shared on Twitter shows one protester being arrested, following police warnings against blocking traffic and sidewalks. There were multiple unconfirmed reports of multiple arrests.

There was a great meme image about the "anti-war" left coming out of 8 years of hibernation after trumps election. Didn't find it in a cursory search though... too bad, it was a good one.

These antiwar protesters are going to learn a hard lesson soon. The MSM that they loved so much when they were anti-Trump has now turned their backs on them. The only place I could find coverage about their protests was on rt.com. Ironic much?

Poor Code Pink. Harder and harder for them to get coverage. They did OK with the media when they put on the pussy hats and kept their mouths shut about war. They are really on the outs now that the MSM war orgy is in full swing.

I was out of town and attended with my sister in LA. Most of the people we met in ANSWER are hopeless. Totally clueless. Other people were there to blow off steam. A lot of people were there pushing their own agenda. You know the usual stuff. We met a handful of libertarians. We ate with three of them. It is refreshing to meet people like yourself.

No doubt these protesters are mostly protesting Trump and using Syria as an excuse but for the time being, they are the only game in town. It is sad but if that a$$hole in the white house continues down this same path, i hope that more libertarians start showing up.

The anti war "left" is utterly, totally and completely lacking any credibility at all.

Some of the younger ones can be turned on to liberty ideas. I know some who were Bernie supporters, they see what happened this week and immediately are concerned about blowback. Remember it was coverage of Desert Storm that put CNN on the map- the first invasion we could watch in real time on TV. I was fascinated by it, and 10 years later they were all covering the 2nd invasion like it was someone playing a video game. The young folks today aren't going for it, because they can tell the difference between a video game and real life, and it was their parents who went to fight in those wars and came back all kinds of fucked up.

Anyways, I've found once they see you agree with them on nonintervention, they are more open to discussion on economic issues and sometimes 10A issues. But they are mostly against the anti-PC rhetoric, at least, they have their own ideas on how people should treat one another.

I'll bet the compensation would be the same for those who developed more efficient ways to grow food.

The bombs mostly destroy wealth, prosperity and friendship.

What are you talking about? are you saying that code pink did not protest Obama's warmongering? They were also the only progressive group that stood with Rand when he had his NSA filibuster. Say what you will about them but you cannot say that they are partisan when it comes to the war issue and the surveillance state

I joined a local antiwar group waaay back in 2006. I quit that sorry group of socialist miscreats when they were against protesting Mike Huckabee because they knew I liked Ron Paul and, for no good reason, they hated him. At that time I only supported Ron but still considered myself a democrat. I can't stand the phony antiwar left. There are real people on the antiwar left like Dennis Kucinich, Ralph Nader, Tulsi Gabbard and Cynthia McKinney. But the rank and file are sheeple.

According to Gallup, Trump's approval rating is unchanged since the attack.

I am talking about the media coverage. Code Pink hasn't really been covered since Bush, and they aren't being covered today. Sure, there are some hard-core code pink people that are actually anti-war. As far as the pussy-hats, that was after Trump was President, so it was not about Obama. But the media did not cover that as an anti-war protest, it was an anti-Trump, feminist protest.

Speaking of the "anti-war" left, I caught Rachel Madcow's show. Her take on the Trump missile attack was as follows:

- An extended history of the Baath Party, and how evil the Assads are, just like Saddam.
- Iran and Russia help Assad.
- US bombing and droning in Syria has been going for a long time under Obama, so it's OK.
- Trump and his Admin are confused, and Trump's biggest problem is that he did a 180 on Syria intervention. Flip-flop!
- Constitution says he needs Congressional approval for this (but see point above about it being OK under Obama).
- Oh yeah, Assad has industrial death camps like Nazi Germany.
- Why did Trump change his mind, and what if he changes it back and goes easy on Assad?

Yep. They are the only consistent anti-war group. No matter which team is in power. There is no other anti-war group as prolific as they are.

6 arrested amid scuffles at antiwar protest in Jacksonville, Florida (VIDEO)

A three-way melee between police, protesters and counter-protesters broke out at an antiwar Jacksonville, Florida, leading to six people being arrested.

On Friday evening, a group of up to 200 people gathered at Hemming Park in Jacksonville, chanting “Hands off Syria!” and “No justice, no peace, US out of the Middle East!”

But the crowd was confronted by a group of counter-protesters, one of them waving a Donald Trump flag, which is what apparently provoked the fight. In the subsequent brawl over the flag police officers got involved and were themselves attacked, being punched, kicked, and in one case reportedly choked, as they tried to split up the two groups.

Some witnesses criticized the officers for excessive use of force, and one officer was seen repeatedly punching a protester in the ribs as he was restrained.

“It should have been resolved way better than it was. There shouldn’t have been no fighting,” witness Tavaris Beaver told The Florida Times-Union. “For the police to beat another guy and slam another woman, I don’t think there’s no peace in that.”

According to Beaver, a woman trying to break up the fight was herself arrested.

“The only thing the girl was doing was breaking it up, but she gets slammed on the ground and put in handcuffs,” Beaver said.

Six people were altogether detained and charges with crimes including resisting arrest, assaulting an officer and in one case, marijuana possession.
