To be fair, he came out swinging defending bombing in Syria, that could drive media to back off from covering the scandals:

Bill O’Reilly Weathered A Sexual Harassment Scandal Before. This One Is Different.

The Fox News host faces an advertising boycott powered by social media, an accelerated news cycle, and continued fallout from Roger Ailes’ reign.

By Michael Calderone
As Fox News host Bill O’Reilly became embroiled in a sexual harassment scandal, the host of CNN’s “Reliable Sources” posed a question: “Could this potentially sink Bill O’Reilly’s career?”

That was over a dozen years ago.

In October 2004 (http://edition.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/0410/17/rs.01.html), Howard Kurtz, who hosted “Reliable Sources” at the time, was discussing an explosive lawsuit (http://www.thesmokinggun.com/documents/oreilly/bill-oreilly-falafel-lawsuit-turns-ten-897562) against O’Reilly filed by former Fox News producer Andrea Mackris. The allegations in Mackris’ lawsuit ― among them, that O’Reilly urged her to “use your vibrator to blow off steam” and that he’d at one point mistakenly called a loofah a “falafel” ― made for easy tabloid headlines. They also raised serious questions about O’Reilly’s future in the news business.

But O’Reilly settled with Mackris just days before the 2004 presidential election, and the assumption among many media watchers was that he’d survive. Katie Couric, then co-host of the “Today” show, asked legal analyst Dan Abrams if he expected “any ramifications professionally” for O’Reilly in light of the settlement. “It doesn’t look that way,” Abrams replied.

Indeed, O’Reilly remained the top-rated cable news host, and his 8 p.m. show reportedly generates more than $100 million (http://nymag.com/daily/intelligencer/2017/04/bill-oreillys-future-at-fox-is-in-rupert-murdochs-hands.html) annually. For a long time, it seemed that O’Reilly, who has consistently beat a string of rival hosts on CNN and MSNBC, would be at Fox News as long as he cared to.

But a New York Times investigation (https://www.nytimes.com/2017/04/01/business/media/bill-oreilly-sexual-harassment-fox-news.html) splashed across Sunday’s front page revealed that O’Reilly and 21st Century Fox had paid a combined $13 million in settlements to five women who’d accused O’Reilly of harassment. And the resulting sexual harassment scandal (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/bill-oreilly-fox-news-sexual-harassment_us_58e27fdde4b0f4a923b0b6be) looks less likely to quickly recede from the headlines.

To be clear, these are accusations and have not been proven in a court. Some of the accusations appear to be too slacious / incredible.
Let's wait till facts come out.

What are you talking about? the reason people settle is so that they don't have to go through a court case. Also this is how 99% of the settlements work, the accused pays some monetary penalty, admit to nothing and the accusers agree to dismiss the charges. Also there will not be any "facts" coming out cos just like many other settlements, there is usually a gag order placed on the accusers to stay quite.

Sometimes I wonder if you are mocking with readers of this forum or you are really this ignorant about he world.

I was trying to make distinction between accusation and proven claims. Perhaps there will be nore facts coming out that is probable case as you said or perhaps there will be more facts. Or more accusers may come forward as happened in case of Bill Cosby. We just don't know for certain at this point how factual were all the accusations.
But are you saying settling is admission of guilt ?

I know what you are trying to say, my point is that it is a redundant one. The whole idea of a settlement is that the court case ends and the accuser withdraws the accusation. But you bring up a good point with the small possibility of more information coming out like it did with Bill Cosby. Cosby's problem is that his lawyer failed to include the contents of the pre trial deposition secret or it was part of the gag order and someone leaked it.

I am not saying settlement is a sign of guilt. Its sorta like taking a plea bargain, it doesn't mean you are guilty. Rich and famous people settle because sometimes the negative press and loss of income that come with a trial is more than the settlement payout.

Oh ok, that clarifies. I would concede that part of my comment was redundant.

Not in this case, but there are other important topics where I would prefer to err on the side of redundancy of cautionary disclaimers with aim to not lose sight of rinse-repeat operations that have been going on in US politics/foreign policy.

REPORT: O'REILLY VACATION MAY BE PERMANENT... (http://nymag.com/daily/intelligencer/2017/04/is-bill-oreilly-going-off-the-air.html)

April 11, 2017 9:05 p.m.

Embattled Fox News host Bill O’Reilly announced tonight that he is taking a vacation. O’Reilly’s decision to go off the air in the midst of a sexual harassment scandal and advertiser boycott arguably has the appearance of a suspension, but O’Reilly worked to dispel that notion. He announced that he’d scheduled his trip “last fall” — well before the New York Times reported he paid $13 million to settle harassment claims. A Fox News spokesperson confirmed O’Reilly will return on April 24.

Here’s how O’Reilly talked about his vacation on the show Tuesday night.

But according to four network sources, there’s talk inside Fox News that tonight’s show could be his last. Lawyers for the law firm Paul, Weiss, hired last summer by 21st Century Fox to investigate Roger Ailes, are currently doing a “deep dive” investigation into O’Reilly’s behavior. They’re focused now on sexual harassment claims by O’Reilly guest Wendy Walsh after she reported her claims (https://www.nytimes.com/2017/04/09/business/media/fox-bill-oreilly-harassment-claim.html?_r=0) via the company’s anonymous hotline.

Another idiot in media may be out soon.

Things might change in future but during primaries and general, Trump not only survived but thrived because he also did fiercest attacking and not just grabbing talk. O'Rielly mostly remained aligned throughout with neoconish media owners and was let go as a last resort.
