Just wanted to give an update on here about what's going on with kratom. Not too much has happened the last few months. Over 23,000 Americans left comments (https://www.regulations.gov/document?D=DEA-2016-0015-0006)to the DEA on the Regulations.gov website about kratom. According to the American Kratom Association they were 99.1% overwhelmingly positive (https://d3n8a8pro7vhmx.cloudfront.net/americankratomassociation/pages/256/attachments/original/1489597068/KRATOM_FACT_V._FICTION_copy_Press_Release.pdf?1489 597068).

A lot of vendors are having problems with payment processors. A few States have banned kratom (http://www.americankratom.org/legal_status), but bans have also been defeated in other States. The FDA continues to illegally seize kratom mail/shipments and target kratom small businesses/vendors for legal action. The DEA ordered the FDA to do an 8 factor analysis on kratom, but they haven't seemed to have done that yet. The AKA commissioned their own (http://www.americankratom.org/analysis)which was done by Dr. Jack Henningfield and his Pinney Associates.

The kratom Wikipedia page is still a travesty. Based on my understanding it was "taken over" by a hostile editor or group of editors last year. They trashed it and when members of the community attempted to fix it the page was locked down. Suspiciously this occurred at the same time the DEA moved to emergency Schedule (ban/criminalize) kratom. Recently the page appears to have been unlocked again. I guess this is a good example of why teachers tell you not to use Wikipedia as a source.

The AKA is doing a public briefing call on April 13th from 7PM to 8:30PM EDT. You can see it here (https://register.gotowebinar.com/register/3960624883445375490). You can also submit questions. I encourage everyone to listen in. The AKA currently needs to raise $600,000. They are doing amazing work and every donation helps. The Botanical Education Alliance (another org involved in the fight) now takes Bitcoin (https://www.botanical-education.org/donate/)donations.

Based on my understanding, kratom cannot continue to exist in a legal grey area anymore. The genie is out of the bottle. Someone needs to submit a proper NDI (New Dietary Ingredient) application to the FDA and get it approved. The kratom market needs to become an officially legal and legitimate business. Only two applications have been submitted thus far and they were poorly done and denied. If this doesn't happen then the FDA could kick kratom back to the DEA who would probably Schedule (ban/criminalize) it. The journalist Anthony Roberts (https://medium.com/@anthonyroberts/latest) at Medium does a good job covering this.

An article published recently (https://thefederalist.com/2017/03/23/regulators-ban-herbal-treatment-recovering-opioid-addicts/)at The Federalist by Georgi Boorman did an amazing job analyzing the current kratom situation. In it, I think she has been able to reveal why all of a sudden this ancient plant is under attack. Hint: individuals and organizations connected to Big Pharma started it. An individual on the kratom subreddit on Reddit is selling nice kratom pendants (https://www.reddit.com/r/kratom/comments/63nwbl/handmade_heavy_duty_spiral_hemp_necklace_with/)with hemp rope. Proceeds are donated to the orgs helping to keep kratom legal.

Sadly, I haven't seem much if any support for kratom from the Liberty Movement. I have contacted multiple figures and organizations in the movement, but haven't even gotten a reply from most.

If they would just legalize pot & get it over with, this would probably be not such an issue.

If you are concerned about keeping Kratom legal please consider supporting Matt Gurtler in his bid for GA's 9th Congressional District.

He is a Ron Paul Republican in a heavy R district. His fundraising topped 175K in Q1 2020 and he is a sitting state representative.

He has a history of voting against legislation regulating Kratom. In fact, a bill came up last year in the GA House to regulate Kratom and he was the ONLY house rep to vote against it!

this is a link to the bill http://www.legis.ga.gov/Legislation/en-US/display/20192020/HB/551

and this is the link to the vote http://www.legis.ga.gov/Legislation/en-US/vote.aspx?VoteID=17125

I cannot stress this enough.... if you want to support the next generation of liberty congressman and you support keeping Kratom legal please consider donating to Matt's campaign.
