Would you prefer to see Freedom Caucus, Rand Paul & allies to join forces with President Trump to repeal Obamacare and find common grounds wherever they can to further the cause of liberty?

Of course.

Trump seems very pliable, better he listens to Rand and Massie than Kissinger and Brzezinski.

Or McCain and Graham.

and is rand that short is is trump that tall? I've met Ron Paul in person. He didn't strike me as short, tho I am 6'

As for the poll,

It's exactly as I hope and what AF has said. Trump is gonna listen. He might not do what needs to be done, but he's gonna hear it without the typical political bias or agenda.

Trump looks like a TE and Rand looks like a Slot. Their 40 times are likely diminished since their combines.

Of course I'd rather see Trump support... freedom and people who support it, regardless of what he's been doing.

But these are still words:

exactly.

We all best count our blessings that Trump, whether righteously or selfishly, defeated Hillary. We best count our blessings that the Lord answered the prayers of the masses, who were witnessing the collapse of our nation in slipping into deeper and deeper tyranny and lawlessness.

Trump has major issues, but he is playing golf with Rand Paul and the House Freedom Causes is being written about in media outlets across the nation. I'd say we are doing much better than many of us expected when Rand dropped out early in the primary over a year ago.

We should be very thankful. I had resigned to things being much worse by now and am grateful the way things have moved along. (Of course, with the exception of some of the very horrible things which have occurred in the frontline of the wars. Of course, my prayers are that all wars end and that there is peace, as I believe most normal and sane people wish).

This tit for tat with the HFC has done nothing but raise their stock within government and among the people.

If it was orchestrated to go that way, it would be ingenious.

In the meanwhile, the establishment has been humilitated (Paul Ryan and ilk.), the HFC was a big part of that, and now Rand Paul is playing golf with President Trump, talking about God knows what (Syria and other foreign policy matters? Domestic policy?)

We finally have a real seat at the table. We should be very thankful. And then, we should work hard to make change.

Well hell yes, I would like to see him side with them all the time and call on them for input on all his decisions. But then, I would like a lot of things I'm probably never going to get. I don't think they are ever really going to "join forces", may I be proven wrong.

So the question is should Trump stop campaigning against them and embrace liberty? I don't think any of us like that he has been fighting against the liberty movement. Of course we wish he'd change.

No. We are only where we are now because rand and company did not go along to get along. If Trump wants to support Common sense principles, Rand and the HFC, great! Rand and the HFC need to continue sticking to principle and not compromising, it made Trump and the GOPe look like their bitches and now they need to come groveling to them and they still won't give up their principles. Its the real alpha position to be in, work with Rand and companies uncompromising principles or go back home to the dems.

The question was not "should the freedom caucus compromise their principles"

The other way to look at it is, even Rand's bill is not a perfect free market bill. There are still government licenses required for doctors, there is still an FDA, etc.. If Rand was only going to put forward or sign bills that were 100% free market, then we would likely just end up with more socialism. Rand's strategy will hopefully help to bring some important free market reforms to the table that are palatable enough to get passed into law and if we can show that free market reforms work, then that will make way for more free market reforms.. not just in health care but other areas as well.

if Rand had worked with trump to come to a compromise a few weeks ago we would have that shitty Trump care failure now. I hope he continues not compromising as he did then, either trump will have to come along or he can go kiss and make up with the dems. Rand has the position of power now, surprised trump was not on his knees in that golf picture, rand is to good to him.

Trump is a lost cause, but hopefully this weakens the executive branch some that way when a Democrat gets with reins again there will be precedent to check the power.

...as one wag would put it--VERY LOUDLY-- "WHO GIVES A CRAP!!!"...none of these republican haircuts, to my knowledge, have ever uttered an honest, truly intelligent, focused, public condemnation of 1.) the hideous practice of private bankster control/manipulation over the issuance of 'money' through 'fractional reserve deposit creation,' etc., 2.) the hideous conduct of the foreign policers, spies, weapons merchants, murderers and monsters galore whom they facilitate...3.) etc. ad goddamned nauseam...4.) UGH!!!...

[i'm thinking sometime we oughta get a reality show for 'politics'...for once...] ;)

Sure, it would be great! Trump's not going to do that though. Trump could have endorsed Rand's healthcare bill--I actually had a tiny bit of hope that he would. But he didn't and endorsed Swampcare instead.

"Oh but you see now Trump can endorse Rand's plan since Paul Ryan's bill is a proven failure."

I doubt he'll do this. None of Trump's supporters are blaming him for not repealing Obamacare, so he has no reason to push the issue anymore. He's just going to let Congress battle it out amongst themselves. He'll sign a bill if one manages to make it to his desk, but he's not going to endorse anything. All the talk and golf with Rand is nice, but Trump was doing that before he endorsed Swampcare.

Rand is listed as 5' 8" and Trump as 6' 2"- a six inch difference.

Better than being at each other's throats, I suppose.

I could be wrong, but I am thinking Trump needs new friends. He seems to be taking advice from questionable sources. I was willing to give him the benefit of doubt on the assumption he was some mad genius with masterful strategies so subtle that my vanishingly small intellect simply could not grasp them. Now... not so sure.

Better class of friends. That's the ticket.

Just be cautious- Trump is a salesman and will promise anything he thinks somebody wants to hear to get what he wants.

Trump needs to be careful too. Promises made to the Freedom Caucus may cause others at the other end of the party spectrum to not like it.

Join forces...to do what?

If Trump wants to join with the Freedom Caucus in advancing liberty, swell.

Otherwise, if he keeps promoting garbage ala TrumpCare, no, I want the Freedom Caucus to be his most outspoken foes.

Policy-wise, Trump is obviously much closer to the Dems than the Freedom Caucus, but there's so much personal animus between Trump and his former party mates that he's going to have trouble bringing them along, even for overtly leftist bills like the upcoming "stimulus" or raising the debt ceiling sans spending cuts. He's sort of stuck at the moment. So, while I have no expectation that Trump will become a reliable partner of conservatives, it may be possible to squeeze some concessions out of him from time to time.
