Here's a good article (http://www.freecentury.com/2007/06/12/whats-with-obama/) about why Obama is just more of the same. Hopefully, some ammunition for your street campaigns:

Barack Obama sure does seem to be popular in his campaign. Most polls show him a mere few points behind Senator Hillary Clinton. I took a look at the issues he likes to talk about and see if there is anything in substance to the man.

* Strengthening America Overseas - This sounds a whole lot like the Neocon Nation Building and policing the world [that contends] There is no way you can be significantly influential around the World without using force or the subtle threat of force. This is an old policy which goes to show he is nothing new.

* Plan to End the Iraq War - While Obama is against the Iraq War, he is not a non-interventionist. Obama just happens to be against this one particular War, he has said he is open to missile strikes on Iran. He supports the use of force in Darfur, and other regions of the World. This is more of the same partisanship from the Democrats. If it was Bill Clinton was behind the Iraq War, Obama would be a firm supporter.

* Creating a Healthcare system that works - Socialism - Obama is like every Democrat in the last 40 years, and wants a Universal Socialist Healthcare system. Nevermind the fact that Healthcare is in worse shape than it was when Medicare and Medicaid was created, and Government doesn’t work. Same ol’ Socialistic liberalism here.

* Energy and the Environment - This is vastly increased legislation and regulation of business - Democrats have always been for more regulation, and Obama wants more of the same. Nevermind the fact that Government doesn’t work. I don’t believe anyone should be able to pollute and negatively impact the environment, but creating more bureaucracy in Washington is not going to solve the problem.

* Improving our Schools - More Government School Bureaucracy - While education is a wonderful thing, the Federal Government has no business in education. The department of Education consumes billions of dollars, yet educates nobody. States are responsible for education, and the people. I don’t even think states should run public schools, but they certainly have more of a right to do so then the federal government. Another example of Socialistic Government centralization of education.

* Protecting our Homeland - Futile with Interventionist policy - As I mentioned above, Obama is against the Iraq War, but is very open to using force around the World. As long as we are Interventionist, there is no hope for securing the homeland. Obama would however, greatly increase the bureaucracy and spending in the Department of Homeland Security.

* Immigration and the Border - This is only a problem because of Socialism - If there wasn’t a welfare state then immigration legal or illegal would be of no consequence. Another person in the country can only impact you in a positive way. If you don’t agree you need to really increase your understanding of economics. The problem today is welfare hangs a carrot out to attract people for other reasons than opportunity for work in America.

* Honoring our Veterans - A noble cause - The problem is Obama’s Interventionist policy will create many more Veterans. I hope to see a day where we do not have any Veterans of War, because we have been a peaceful nation for so long. Just remember that because Obama is against the IRAQ war, does not mean he isn’t a hawk.

* Cleaning up Washington’s culture of corruption - The only war to do this is decrease the power and influence of the Federal Government. - You cannot clean up Washington until you make Washington irrelevant. The Federal Government consumes so much of the National economy and creates so many regualtions, Corporations and Individuals do the prudent thing, by influencing Washington. This is the source of the corruption.

* Strengthening Families and Communities - This is great, but no business of the Federal Government - This is just another Democratic platitude and nothing concrete. Everyone wants these things, but if you think that using Government (which is force) is going to help, THINK AGAIN!

* Reconciling faith in Politics - READ THE FIRST AMENDMENT OBAMA - “Congress shall make no law respecting an establisment of Religion, or prohibiting the free exercising thereof”. Government does not belong in Religion, and Religion does not belong in Government…PERIOD

All of this goes to show that Obama is merely recycling old liberal and socialist talking points. There is nothing new here, except a lot of bad policy that has been tried before, and has FAILED! He may be a good speaker, but substance wise, he is no good for America.

Obama is a nice enough guy (I've met him) but seriously, he supports the gun ban in Chicago and that pisses me off. My dad recently bought another gun, which would mean I get to have my grandfather’s old sidearm and I can't even bring it into Chicago and use it for target practice.

Gun violence is pretty bad here yet we have a total ban on handguns... yeah that's really working.

I am not worried about Obama... I expect the Hillary campaign attack dogs to tear him apart. Anyway, we're in too much foreign trouble right now to have anyone that completely inexperienced.

He seems like a really nice man. I would love to have him as a neighbor. BUT.... There is no way I would ever trust that man in the White House.

He just wants to bring the factions of government all together, so it can form one big, unified and powerful government.

No true and conscious American wants that.

I thought Obama's platform is - the "black candidate" like Hillary's is the "female candidate" like Rudy McRomney's is the "uber male" "bomb'em" candidate.

Many inner-city Blacks do NOT trust Obama. They see him as a great compromiser, working for the interests of the White elites.

I talked with one African-American woman who lives in Oakland. She says that most of the people she knows believe the Clintons are more on their side than Obama.

Obama voted for the Patriot Act, and then voted to renew the Patriot Act. That and his stance on guns immediately disqualifies him in my eyes.

Do you have any faith at all in a product of the Chicago Democratic Machine? I don't.
