Flynn resigned in February (https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2017/feb/13/michael-flynn-resigns-quits-trump-national-security-adviser-russia) after just four weeks as national security adviser when it came to light that he had misled the vice-president, Mike Pence, about phone conversations with the Russian ambassador about sanctions in December. The resignation came after a flow of intelligence leaks revealed that he had secretly discussed sanctions with the ambassador, Sergey Kislyak, and then tried to cover up the conversations.

On Wednesday, it was revealed (http://www.politico.com/story/2017/03/michael-flynn-lobby-turkey-235843) that from September to November last year, while he was working as a top adviser to Trump’s presidential campaign, Flynn was lobbying for a firm linked to the Turkish government, earning $530,000. He and his company Flynn Intel Group Inc filed retroactive documents with the Department of Justice two days ago to register as a foreign agent.

Under the Foreign Agent Registration Act, US citizens who lobby on behalf of foreign governments or political entities must disclose their work to the justice department. Willfully failing to register is a felony, though the justice department rarely files criminal charges in such cases.

As part of Flynn’s lobbying for Inovo, a Danish firm linked to the Turkish president, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Flynn penned an op-ed (http://thehill.com/blogs/pundits-blog/foreign-policy/305021-our-ally-turkey-is-in-crisis-and-needs-our-support#.WCPhv1d4UUU.twitter) calling for a “radical” cleric (whom the Turkish government wants to extradite) to be booted out of the US.

It's probably a good thing.
Turks are raving loons... a ticking time bomb
in the world's biggest hotspot.
Good luck to Flynn..
They need all the sanity they can afford.
He'll make a ton of money
if Erdo doesn't declare him a spy
and poison his kebabs.

I thought cabinet members had to agree to not be lobbyists for an extended period of time.

He can't. After he was canned, he disclosed his ties to the group he was with.
Probably one of those "amongst other things" Sean Spicer was talking about during his press conference, when he said Flynn was asked to resign for a host of reasons, not just for misleading Mike Pence about Russia.

Flynn Registers as Foreign Agent

I thought maybe he joined AIPAC? Or started a Foundation to take millions form the Saudis and other foreign government. But no, just an actual registered second rate Danish lobbying firm.

Should have be disclosed, but still a minuscule tiny issue compared to the influence in US policy, law, and politics by the two nations noted above - Israel and Saudi Arabia.

Sure, but Turkey (which is who Flynn was apparently serving, via the Danish proxy) is not exactly an unimportant player in the Mid-East.

And it's not as if Israel and the KSA have lost any of their influence since Trump's inauguration.

...it's not like it's Turkey instead of Israel/KSA.

Look at his rhetoric about Jerusalem, or his action in Yemen in support of the Saudi war.

I'd be a lot more concerned if he was a registered agent of Soros than Putin...lol.

So Flynn never did lobbying as an NSA employee. So what's the big fuss?

Trump Sets 5-Year and Lifetime Lobbying Ban for Officials

WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump acted Saturday to fulfill a key portion of his pledge to "drain the swamp" in Washington, banning administration officials from ever lobbying the U.S. on behalf of a foreign government and imposing a separate five-year ban on other lobbying.

Administration officials described the bans as historic in scope. But it was not immediately clear how either one would be enforced.

Trump has said individuals who want to aid him in his quest to "Make America Great Again" should focus on the jobs they will be doing to help the American people, and not thinking about the future income they could rake in by peddling their influence after serving in government.

"Most of the people standing behind me will not be able to go to work," Trump joked, referring to an array of White House officials lined up behind him as he sat at his desk in the Oval Office. The officials included Vice President Mike Pence, chief of staff Reince Priebus, senior strategist Steve Bannon and counselor Kellyanne Conway. "So you have one last chance to get out."

Trump said he talked about the ban a lot during the campaign and "we're now putting it into effect."

Obama had a three year rule.
