Inside the big race
SUN HERALD

The Sun Herald today begins expanded 2008 election coverage with an exclusive poll from the early primary states of Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina.

The poll, conducted by Mason-Dixon and sponsored by McClatchy Newspapers and MSNBC, examines the candidates' standings in all three states and will list the issues that Iowa voters find most important. It will also determine which of five qualities Iowa voters say is most important for a candidate.

Expanded Sun Herald presidential race coverage will continue on Tuesdays and Thursdays of each week with profiles of the major candidates and stories on campaign issues and events. This week we feature Ron Paul, the Texas congressman who has spoken out against putting drug dealers in federal prison, has opposed a bill to crack down on child pornography and has voted against the Iraq war. Oh, and he's a Republican.

Thursday, we'll have John Edwards, once the fresh face of the Democratic Party. The 2004 defeat as John Kerry's running mate and the discovery a short time later that his wife has cancer changed him. He and his wife say those dark days made them recommit to helping the downtrodden.

Please feel free to clarify Dr. Pauls positions. Id suggest calling instead of writing. Or both. We could each pick a writer and call and email each employee. Any other ideas?

This paper needs to be set straight.

This is fun!!

Let's see:

George W. Bush doesn't want to give little children healthcare (SCHIP)
Bill Clinton doesn't feel we should lockup terrorists (since he didn't go after Bin Laden)

Wow! This should be a lot easier to do with the other candidates:

- Romney was for abortion, but is now against it.
- Giuliani was for sanctuary cities and abortion, and is not against it, maybe.
- Huckabee was for raising taxes in Arkansas to pay for health and education for illegals, but now he's against that.
- McCain believes in continuing to blowing things and people up in Iraq, just not torturing them, and has always been for that.

Blah, blah, blah....

This newspaper is from the Trent Lott area, and is very involved in the Military. A few naval bases, VA homes, Keesler Airforce Base, and well as the big ship building industry. On the upside the area is also a hub for gambling and if you can make connections to how Ron Paul is popular in Las Vegas, you might can drum up some extra support and if you can show how Ron Paul as president might help speed up hurricane recovery by removing all the government involvement that is slowing down growth with all these restrictions.

Also with Trent Lott leaving the Senate, this could be a good oppertunity to put a Ron Paul republican into office. :) Anyone that lives in the area up for running in the special election.
