United Airlines Pilot Removed from Flight After Political Rant

http://www.breitbart.com/big-government/2017/02/12/united-airlines-pilot-removed-flight-going-rant-politics-divorce-intercom/

by Katherine Rodriguez12 Feb 2017403

A United Airlines pilot was removed from a plane before a flight from Austin to San Francisco Saturday evening after going on a rant over the intercom system.

The pilot, who showed up late to her flight wearing “street clothes,” spoke to passengers “over the intercom about her divorce and the presidential election,” the Daily Mail reported.

“Sorry I’m late, the reason I’m late is I’m going through a divorce,” she said.

Some of the pilot’s comments made passengers feel uncomfortable, “causing them to question her ability to fly the plane.”

Passenger Randy Reiss said the pilot seemed friendly at first, “but things took an awkward turn when she pointed out an interracial couple sitting in first class.”

“It quickly turned from playful to scary,” Reiss told BuzzFeed News.

Passengers said the pilot said that she was going to be on Oprah and then commented on the 2016 presidential election.

“Look, I don’t care if you voted for Trump or Clinton, they’re both assholes,” she said.

She also said she would let her co-pilot fly the plane because he is a man, and she told passengers they could disembark the plane if they didn’t feel safe. “So I’ll stop, and we’ll fly the plane. Don’t worry. I’m going to let my co-pilot fly it. He’s a man,” she laughed. “Okay, if you don’t feel safe, then get off the airplane. But otherwise, we can go.”

Reiss left the plane after her outburst and wrote on Twitter that half the passengers on the plane followed suit.

United Airlines spokesman Charlie Hobart said the pilot was removed from the flight and a new pilot and crew took her place.

United Flight 455 was delayed for more than two hours before the plane took off from Austin.

“We removed her from the flight, (and) we’re going to discuss this matter with her,” Hobart said, according to the Austin-American Statesman. “We were looking out for our customers to get them to where they needed to be.”

~175 souls, passengers and crew, and a pilot that is in a mental state that prevents her from flying. At least she had enough sense to acknowledge her mental state and take some action. Whatever her circumstances are, she just made herself a serious liability. Nobody wants to be called out for letting a mentally unfit pilot take control. With all the buzz about "metal illness", that is a no-win situation for the decision maker.

Shouldn't be a tough call at all. No way she should fly a passenger plane again. Bleeding heart leftism and political correctness are often in opposition to common sense, safety and prudence. On the other hand, the liability part of the equation still carries some weight.

Not to dispute your statement, I think we're in agreement, but this parallels the whole mental illness gun ownership issue. The pilot was unfit to fly that day, but does that mean she should never fly again? How would this impact future pilots from coming forward for fear of losing their careers?

I've never worked a job where this sort of thing wouldn't have resulted in immediate dismissal and escort off the premises.

The pilots must have one hell of a union.

Should she be allowed to own a gun.

Sure. If she decides to shoot herself or shoot her ex-husband, she will not be taking 100s of people with her, along with a very expensive aircraft, and she won't be a liability to an employer.

Her best union will be her gender. She could become a cause celebre.

Although, the pilot union, ALPO, will represent her with much more zeal than they would a male pilot, or a regional airline pilot.

Why not? Are women more prone to mental illness? I've known some excellent women pilots, and have reported to some fantastic leaders.

The thing about pilots is that they have a vested interest in the safety of the aircraft. I dont think this changes with gender. Its not like the presidency where someone is entitled because they are black or female. Is there some kind of affirmative action for pilots too?

Starting in the early '90's, Yonited intensively hired 300 hour females and minorities.

It was a giant fuck-you to the giant backlog of highly experienced professional aviators that patiently worked for years in lesser positions.

In all fairness, I'm a bit suspicious of the one witness who claims that she pointed out an interracial couple sitting in first class. It smacks of someone needing to throw racism in the mix to make the story go over the top.

New rules of journalism require the use of a cartoon style verb. Some variation of "attack", "bash", "blast", "slam", "rant" or "destroy" are recommended verbiage.

Divorces are hazardous to society and they make pilots unkempt and late for work. Congress really should do something and make them illegal. ...Where is Pelosi when we really need her?

It seems that the longer one is married, the greater the penalty. The courts pick and choose who gets what and why - the whole thing is pretty arbitrary. I dont really blame anyone who wants a divorce after only 2 or 3 years. If sh!t aint workin', dont throw good money after bad...

I honestly believe if the government was out of marriage, and just upheld contract law, you'd find a much fairer system - a legal relationship based on an agreed upon/mutual contract. If individuals want to add religion to the mix, they may do so afterwards.

Parents would be on the hook for their children, and may still face some level of court discretion, but it wouldn't be the bullsh!t they have today. I'd bet marriages would tend to last longer, and couples would have the incentive to try harder, without the meddling of government courts.

Prenup all the way - get the government out of your marriage and base it on your own agreements - up front. If you're partner feels insulted, tell them its the government and not them - if that dont work, you've probably preemptively resolved a potentially serious error.

If you're 2 years in, get a postnup - they are still subject to government's arbitrary whims, but it may give incentive to maintain the relationship.

I honestly dont know the ratio of prescription drug usage (anti-depressants) between men and women. I know the Valium story... Was that due to the medical community pushing drugs onto women, or is there really a predisposition? I think this is what you may be getting at.

Some quick googling shows that men at 15 percent.

Women double that rate:

Women are using anti‐anxiety medication at more than twice the rate of men. Why is that?

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/11/16/women-and-prescription-drug-use_n_1098023.html

One would think that rate would go down, as grrl power becomes the norm, the patriarchy has been smashed, and lesbian marriages are now the accepted norm.

Conclusion: bat shit crazy American broads drive each other nuts.

Because feminists have told them that they would be happier and more fulfilled if they try and live their life more like men. After the great 50+ year experiment, the data is in and women are less happy than ever.
