View Full Version : The YOUTH VOTE alone can WIN the election!

Young college students and part-time employees can be THE determining factor in this election.

1) Older, full-time workers with careers cannot call out of their jobs as easily on voting day. They also work the hours that the polls are open.

2) Older voters are less likely to vote if it's snowing/raining/freezing out.

3) Most voters do not take part in the primaries.

4) Young people hanging out with their friends on primary/election day can all head to the polls together after lunch, etc.

The youth turnout has always been the worst. If we turn that around this time, ESPECIALLY in the primaries, the YOUTH will be a HUGE factor in the outcome of the election. It's safe to say we are the most dedicated supporters in this election, and we have to make sure that sticks on voting day.

Just a few points I'd like to make. REGISTER REPUBLICAN!

The bad part is most of the people my age are socialists that don't vote.

senior citizens have the highest voting percentage.
most primary voters are loyal to the party establishment.

the only time the youth vote mattered was when Eugene McCarthy knocked off LBJ.

this is why 2008 will be another 1968, but this time nationwide.

in some states independents (NH) and even Dems can vote in a Republican primary.

they say this every year, and every year it is a sham

that's why they stopped trying to get the youth vote

now they merely use it to give the campaign character to attract older voters

Depending on how you look at it, that's a good thing if they don't vote.

It's funny that you mentioned weather. I was thinking about that the other day, how if we really wanted to win, we should pray for absolutely terrible weather on primary days, because only RP supporters would still take the time to go out and vote.

When's the last time young people got this excited by a candidate? RFK?

Coincidentally I was thinking of RFK today, and there are some similarities. Not too many, I hope.

But has there ever been a candidate that the youth have been overwhelming excited about?

If we would get out the word to them, old people should love Ron Paul. He stands for the principles that they used to understand as American principles. But, if they do not know about him, they will not vote for him.

Has there been any concerted effort to get the word out to even, retirement communities?

My grandfather lives in a senior apartment and I was invited to a dinner sometime next week in which many people gather around and my grandpa has a lot of friends so I thought I could try to get the word out then. It's funny because these people gossip more than teenagers.

RFK was big in 68' and probably would have gotten the nomination after winning CA. Unfortunately, he was killed that same night moments after delivering a victory speech. Worked out for HHH - sort of. Be interesting to see how much of RFK's support was the youth vote. He definitely had it but was also riding some of JFK's legacy only five years after that assassination.

Unfortunately for me I'm going to be a few months off 18 years old come election day. But I have been spreading the word about Ron Paul and have already converted a few. So it is as if I will be voting indirectly.

But you can rest assured I will vote for Ron Paul when the time comes for re-election.

Youth could only win a vote against seniors if we conspired to lock them all in after they get to the Country Kitchen buffet.
