Trump bans EPA employees from providing updates on social media or to reporters, bars new contracts, grants (https://twitter.com/AP/status/823953955445096448)

... For now, other details about the frozen grants still unclear.
We don’t know whether the freeze affects all existing contracts — worth about $6.4 billion —
or just new grants and contracts.

The move is likely to be widely felt, though;
in 2013, the EPA awarded $9.6 billion in grants and about $1.4 billion in contracts.
Last year, the total budget was $8.6 billion,
with the money for grants and contracts given to organizations at every level,
from local nonprofits to state governments.

Other actions that Trump took on Monday include instituting a broad hiring freeze for federal government employees.

(no more insider tax payer gravy train 'studies' and 'grants' ? BBB-b-but wat about the desert tortoise??? Somebody call a whhhhammmmmmmmbulance. srsly.. dismantling the EPA is the libs sacred cow which has evolved into a 'machine' for an endless stream of 'concerns'.

MISSION CREEP
Coming out of the '70s we NEEDED some kind of mechanism to raise awareness of the environment. I believe that.
Now? It's become a monster looking for more and more 'concerns' and has morphed into what Government has always been good at: excess and waste. )

USDA also given blackout order.

Not a good sign when agencies start going dark. Regardless of opinion of the EPA, shutting down transparency in any form is a red flag. Lots of changes being made out of the view of the general public.

Trump is to be the only one to be allowed to use social media. Snowden better stay in Russia.

I'm pretty sure I read in another article that this is pretty common with all new administrations as they temporarily put communications on hold until their new appointees/staff get on top of everything.

They are free to find another job if they so desire, where they can FedBook and Twatter to their heart's content.

Government regulations and legal liability place very strict limits on what I can post about with regard to company operations.

Step an inch out of line with the left, and you're fired! Meanwhile, they believe that leftist political activism is perfectly acceptable at any time and any place.

School Official Fired from Social Media Job for Correcting a Student’s Spelling over Twitter

A Maryland school official was fired from her job after she corrected a student’s spelling over Twitter.
Frederick County Public Schools has fired employee Katie Nash after she stirred up attention on how she ran the district’s Twitter feed last week, the Frederick News Post reported.

On Jan. 5, a student tweeted to the FCPS Twitter account @FCPSMaryland and said, “close school tammarow PLEASE.” Several hours later, Frederick County Public Schools Social Media Manager Katie Nash replied, “but then how would you learn how to spell ‘tomorrow?’ :)”

I get that. But communications from these entities are more disinformation than information so I am torn.

Liberals are going batchit about this. They think that scientists are being silenced. Even when I explain to them that this is not the case they still won't believe me. Same chit, different day.
