Be careful what you joke about online, in emails, on phone calls, in SMS, and more -- these agencies are allowed to search raw NSA survelliance data and refer "criminal" data unrelated to what they requested access for to the DoJ -- and they all have no right to unreasonably search our persons, papers, and effects without a warrant, and none of this data was obtained with one. I have a hard time believing this wouldn't result in chilled speech and arrests over sarcasm and jokes.

The new rules significantly relax longstanding limits on what the N.S.A. may do with the information gathered by its most powerful surveillance operations, which are largely unregulated by American wiretapping laws. These include collecting satellite transmissions, phone calls and emails that cross network switches abroad, and messages between people abroad that cross domestic network switches.

Previously, the N.S.A. filtered information before sharing intercepted communications with another agency, like the C.I.A. or the intelligence branches of the F.B.I. and the Drug Enforcement Administration. The N.S.A.’s analysts passed on only information they deemed pertinent, screening out the identities of innocent people and irrelevant personal information.

Now, other intelligence agencies will be able to search directly through raw repositories of communications intercepted by the N.S.A. and then apply such rules for “minimizing” privacy intrusions.

I think the NSA is a great organisation, doing a great job, really keeps us safe.

And I'm not just saying that because I know they'll read this.

It's a really great quote. I can feel the freedom he's referring to, every time I pay taxes. Which is many times a day.

James Woods on Obama: He’s the ‘gift from hell’ (http://www.ronpaulforums.com/showthread.php?503836-What-is-going-to-be-Obama-s-legacy&p=6395028&viewfull=1#post6395028)

The latest came this week, in response to a report from British press that revealed the National Security Agency commonly provides Israel with intelligence data — without first stripping out private and personal information on American citizens. The Guardian in London reported the item, the latest in its coverage of document leaks from Edward Snowden.

Yep, the NSA is the 17th in that count that will have illegitimate access to information they are not allowed to have.

You are all a criminal in a mass surveillance state, and the worst criminals are the ones that defy the political rulers.

Don't worry. Its a more sophisticated and efficient Stasi apparatus. It won't be used to terrorize citizens with threats of criminal persecution.

It will be strictly used for the narrow purpose to blackmail and control your political leaders and office holders to toe the MIC party line. That way, all your politicians can be a John McCain/Lindsey Graham clone.

Obama's last minute parting gift to Trump, Expanded Surveillance powers: http://theantimedia.org/obama-expanded-surveillance-powers-trump/

The Obama administration just handed even more power to the incoming Trump administration to invade the privacy of American citizens. The recent approval of new procedures for an existing executive order will allow the NSA to share the private data it collects with all 16 agencies ... Gone are the already-flimsy privacy protections that required NSA analysts to review data before handing it over to other agencies like the CIA, DEA, DHS, or others. Whereas prior restrictions required analysts to shield the identities of innocent parties and other personal data before sharing only the information deemed pertinent, there are now no filters whatsoever. ...
