WAR GAMES US sends special forces to RUSSIAN BORDER as Nato is poised to strike back against Vladimir Putin’s ‘aggression’
Russia is reportedly deploying nuke-ready missiles in the province of Kaliningrad which borders Lithuania

BY MARK HODGE 4th January 2017, 9:07 am

PRESIDENT Obama has deployed US special forces troops along Lithuania’s border with “aggressive” Russia.

Tensions between Washington and the Kremlin have reached Cold War levels amid reports Vladimir Putin is deploying nuke-ready missiles in the Russian province of Kaliningrad – which borders Poland, Belarus and Lithuania.

Not seeing this being reported today in U.S. news, only sources outside the U.S.

Here is RT.com's coverage (https://www.rt.com/news/372602-lithuania-us-special-forces/).

Elite US troops deployed to deter Russian aggression toward Lithuania as Baltic tensions rise

The Lithuanian government has confirmed the presence of US special forces in the country, which it said
had been deployed to train local forces and act as a deterrent against Russian aggression.

"The United States was the first to offer additional safety assurance measures to the Baltic countries following
the deterioration of the security situation in the region after the annexation of the Crimea," Defence
Ministry spokeswoman Asta Galdikaite told local media on Tuesday (4 January), following a report in The New York Times.

I'm not that worried about the Russians nuking anyone anytime soon.

I am more worried about states like Lithuania trying to grab every opportunity to piss on Russia while it's universally known that the Baltic states LOATHE Russia. They may have had good reasons for this in the past but the USSR doesn't exist anymore.

Russia plans to form three new divisions of its military by the end of the year — tens of thousands of troops — and station them in its westernmost territories, near the Baltics and Poland. Russian President Vladimir Putin has framed it as a simple response to NATO activity.

And those 'dozens' of SF guys could render the Russian missiles inoperable in minutes given the order. Russia isn't the aggressor... for fucks sake they are operating within their own god damned borders! Would people say we are 'aggressive' for moving military assets from Idaho to Texas?

Mexico might. (I'd like to see how they could render a Russian missile inoperable "in minutes"- especially a mobile one).

US-led coalition doubles number of advisers in Iraq to 450

A Baghdad-based U.S. military spokesman says the number of American advisors and allies that have gone into Mosul to help Iraqi forces in their fight against ISIS has doubled in the past couple of weeks. U.S. Air Force Col. John Dorrian says there are now about 450 coalition advisers in Iraq. “They have been in the city at different times,” said Dorrian, a US-led coalition spokesman speaking to Pentagon reporters Wednesday. The additional coalition troops in and around Mosul doubles the number of US forces that had been involved in the Mosul operation, said Dorrian.

The anti-war left will only have to cheer for aggression and war for a couple more weeks. Then they can become serious anti-war protestors for at least four years.

How dare Russia put its borders right next to Washington war games activities.

Just more of the same:

Just look at how Russia has aggressively placed its country so as to interfere with Washington NATO military expansion:

And look how they have aggressively placed their borders so close to Washington military bases:

Just a few dozen advisers...

American Military Advisers Have Entered Mosul at Times, US Official Says

American military advisers have at times entered the city of Mosul accompanying Iraqi forces fighting to retake the city from ISIS, a U.S. military spokesman said today.

Since the start of the Iraqi offensive to retake Mosul in mid-October, U.S. officials have not confirmed whether American advisers would operate in the city accompanying Iraqi forces while remaining behind the front lines.

“They have been in the city at different times, yes,” said Colonel John Dorrian, the U.S. military spokesman for Operation Inherent Resolve, in response to a question about whether American military advisers have entered Mosul as part of the Iraqi offensive. Dorrian made his comments today during a video briefing from Baghdad with Pentagon reporters.

American military advisers are required to stay behind front lines at military headquarters assisting Iraqi and Kurdish forces involved in the Mosul offensive. However, American special operations forces might come closer to combat situations as they assist Iraqi special operations forces engaged in the fight.

Speaking broadly about the adviser role in the Mosul operation, Dorrian said “they've advised the Iraqi Security Forces as they've moved forward. They remain behind the forward line of troops.”

Dorrian declined to provide specifics about when or where the American advisers entered the city at various times.

I had assumed that Sweden (as well as Finland) were full members of NATO as part of the European Union -
but these maps are accurate to my surprise.

Just in the last half of 2016, a google search shows that Sweden is "flirting" with the idea of being
more than only a "NATO partner" - whatever that is, as a result of a newer perceived/real Russian aggression threat.

Live in a vacuum? Leave to Zippy to willfully slap on the blinders ignoring everything else going on in reality. These events are not in isolation.

If the only thing Washington has ever done the past decade were to send a couple special forces troops specialized for training insurgents - the answer would be no. But when combined with Washington's funding and fostering a coup on the neighboring country to replace its government with a neo-Nazi puppet regime; and placing a series of ballistic missiles around Russia's border, nuclear capable, and capable of reaching Moscow; and expansion on NATO right up to Russia's borders; and having funded and instigated the color revolution in Georgia to replace a Russian friendly government with a US funded brutal puppet regime, followed by the failed push to bring Georgia into NATO, followed by plan B of of then arming and funding and training under the brutal pyscho Saakashvili for five years to prepare the military invasion of South Ossetia in violation of the 1992 peace agreement and killing the Russian peacekeepers; and then the funding and arming and importing of jihadists to overthrow Syria and throw it into a devastating war; and the likewise funding and arming jihadists to foster a coup in Libya that failed, followed by plan B to devastatingly bomb the country, kill the leadership, and make millions destitute, desperate, or dead; and Washington's continuous record of attempting to either sabotage, economically destroy, foster regime change coups or outright attack militarily any nation that chooses to be independent of its will; and the perpetual assembly line of lies and propaganda against anything Russia; and the launching of an economic war against Russia; and the unsuccessful attempt to tank the Russian currency; the expelling of Russian diplomats on false pretenses; and the long continuous series of outright threats against Russia; and on and on and on

Then yes, it certainly is provocation.

In addition, even were one to view this project in isolation, it is not merely "couple dozen" [the article says dozens are already there] special forces soldiers. The plan is to "send battalions of up to 1,200 to each of the three Baltic states" plus Poland. "The US special forces arrived to Lithuania amid ongoing NATO preparations for the stationing of 4,000 alliance troops in Poland, Lithuania, Estonia and Latvia, a decision made at the NATO summit in Warsaw. A quarter of the force would be composed of US troops currently based in Germany, who would relocate to Poland. A 1,000-strong German-led force equipped with tanks would be deployed in Lithuania in February. The remaining 2,000 British and Canadian troops would be stationed in Estonia and Latvia."

In further addition to these actions, NATO previously announced (http://www.cnn.com/2015/06/24/world/nato-troops/) the planned tripling of its 13,000-strong "Response Force" along member states’ Russian borders to at least 40,000 troops — as well as the formation of a new Very High Readiness Joint Task Force, also called Spearhead Force, of an additional 5,000 combat-ready troops. It boggles the mind that our noble peace laureate Obama "for his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples" & his pledge to reduce the role of nuclear weapons and eventually rid the world of them, has done a 180 only now to call for a 30 year program to modernize our nuclear arsenal to the tune of a trillion dollars. Add to that, with Washington's stepping away from the 'no first use' policy, our elected officials & their appointed cronies are not thinking clearly. According to a Wall Street Journal report, the following people and entities would like the United States to begin a nuclear war: Secretary of State John Kerry, Secretary of Defense Ash Carter, Secretary of Energy Ernest Moniz, the U.K., France, Japan, South Korea, and Germany.
