I forgot to share with all of my friends here:
This past week two new DC meetup groups (DC and Belly of the Beast) started, and one of them immediately met for a happy hour in Adams Morgan (a trendy bar/restaurant neighborhood). So I go early, drive and park with great parking karma--parked on a side street wtih the Ron Paul bumper sticker facing 18th St NW (the main drag). Then I get an ice cream (one of my weaknesses) and wait outside the bar wearing a Ron Paul tee shirt (I think from the 1998 Congressional campaign).
This being a political town, there was a Darfur event at the bar next door (these are all rowhouse type buildings immediately next to each other) with a woman standing out front there waiting for her husband parking the car. She sees my shirt and initiates conversation that she really likes him and he's the only Republican she could vote for!
Since the Meetup, we've been emailing substantively about preparing for the primary already: 30k Rs in DC, how many votes Bush got, etc.
