The US took first place in closing weapons sales deals globally last year,
signing agreements to sell about $40 billion worth of military hardware,
accounting for half of all such contracts worldwide,
according to a congressional study.

The study, titled ‘Conventional Arms Transfers to Developing Nations, 2008-2015,’
showed that the US placed well ahead of the number two weapons dealer, France,
when it came to overall weapons agreements clinched in 2015.
Paris signed deals worth $15 billion.

$40B? That's it? Given the amount of misery inflicted on the world I would expect this number to be much higher. We fuck the people on this planet for mere $40B/year?

To both of you... 2 things:
the report is for
(1) closed transactions ( LOTS of 'paper deals' fall into the crapper every year for ALL suppliers)
(2) and 'only year 2015'... France might have closed on an anomaly that spiked their ranking... idk. ( they sure didn't 'close' on the Carrier they built for Ru..haha. )

40 billion is avg Russian military budget. That means we are exporting out there yearly the equivalent of what it takes to maintain world's seconds biggest army. If we are half then thats 2 armies for the rest of exporters. No wonder wars are going on non stop.

Regardless of small talk about the intricates, business is booming like a mofo, for sure. Quite literally, unfortunately.

I imagine it's likely doing a number on the environment. :(

"second biggest army" is China with over $200 billion. Russian defense spending this year is $60 billion- up from $40 billion. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_military_expenditures

Ok, freedom sometimes needs to be spreaded by force.

Also, this doesn't prove that all the war profiteers money is blood money. Lines in case of weapons blood money are not as clear as are in case of blood diamonds money, even moderate neocons/dgpbags know that.

The Pope can be bit too idealistic at times:
