These days, the American dream is more apt to be realized in South America, in places such as Ecuador, Venezuela and Argentina, where incomes are actually more equal today than they are in the land of Horatio Alger. Who's the banana republic now?

This is a fucking actual quote from a guy who won 23 states in the Democratic Primary.

Income inequality is not one of the top 100000 things that matters. There is no one in this country who has an IQ greater than Forrest Gump and who isn't a quadriplegic who can't make a very nice living.

I have no idea what the income inequality is in Venezuela. I do know they have hyperinflation, don't have toilet paper, and eat animals at the zoo to avoid starvation.

Well when your currency becomes worthless, I guess that makes it easy for income equality to take place.

edit: and fwiw, I've known quite a few quadriplegics that make very good livings.

There was a time I respected him. He did point at a lot of root problems, but his proposed solutions were what I disagreed with. I admired his honesty. Ever since he sold out, I feel like a chump.

Very well stated comrade.

Actually if I left for Venezuela with $20 in my pocket, it would REALLY fuck up their income inequality, lol. So no, not quite seeing the USA as a banana republic, but we're heading that way. —Just not for the reasons Bernie thinks.
