Rand has been the only notable figure hammering Bolton and Giuliani and both are now out of consideration (Bolton unofficially).

Well we all know Giuliani didn't just take himself out of consideration, he was rejected and this is the soft blow to both sides.

"Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.), whose position on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee gives him influence over the State confirmation process, opposed Giuliani's potential nomination last month."

Wow. If so, go Rand! Great news, Giuliani has no place in national politics.

One of the few good things about Donald Trump is that during the GOP primary and general election he trashed the war in Iraq*. This is a perfect set up for Rand in the senate. He can simply ask the question of any nominee who still isn't willing to denounce the war in Iraq as a mistake this question. "How can you represent President Trump's views on foreign policy if you disagree with him on the fundamental question of whether or not Iraq was a mistake?"

* Yes he gave his half-hearted support for it on Howard Stern before the war but at this point that is irrelevant.
