At least six Democratic electors have signed an agreement to try to block Donald Trump from securing the presidency with 270 Electoral College votes.

While it would be unlikely to convince 37 Republican electors to change their votes - the number needed to erase Trump's lead among the 538 total electors - an unusually large number of 'faithless electors' who refuse to vote for Trump could undermine the institution itself.

In the U.S., presidents are elected by the Electoral College - not by popular vote in which Hillary Clinton is 1.7million votes ahead of Trump. In most states, electors must cast a vote for the winner of their state's popular vote.

But some states like Arizona, Idaho, Michigan and Georgia don't have a rule against electors going rogue, and phone calls from across the country have been pouring in to try to sway them against voting for Trump.

Does the article have any polls? I'm not going to read it if it doesn't have polls.

[ tin foil hat ]

Does anyone else wonder if the whole thing was planned out (let Trump win, then take away his win) in order to outrage and divide the country in a humongous way, and possibly cause a civil war?

I considered that Trump was permitted to be the face for the GOP in order to get all of the neocons back into position. Seems like so far it's going down like that. The country is already divided.

But I do expect WWIII. Except it'll be economic warfare. Digital war. A data war.

So it'll be a silent war.

As far as division goes, I think Trump will likely take advantage of the divide and repatriotize the idea of militarized police with all of the protesting going on.

Also, whistleblowers and truth tellers should lay low for a while.

ha ha... six democratic electors. They can't block Trump. This story was posted earlier. They are going to try to make the electoral college more divisive by not voting Hillary... ..is how they are trying to disrupt Trump. it is so stupid and just another way the media keeps lying to its readership.

This would be a story if they were republican electors. But they are democrat electors, best they can do is make the final electoral tally look even larger.

There was another article that I read which pretty much stated the exact opposite as well, several Electorates said they would not vote for Hittlary even if they won. Hmm, who are these Electorates exactly? We never hear about the Electorates themselves as it has not really been an issue.

As far as [/tin foil hat] stuff, they had contingency plans either way. Trump wins, plan X will happen, Hittlary wins, plan Y will happen. Always the outcome is the same, they remind us of how much we need them to control our lives and protect us from <points at bad guy of the week>.

The invisible choice is that we do NOT need them nearly as much as they think we need them.

There were at least a couple RPFs members who have been Electors (originally for Ron 2012). In some states they run alongside delegates at the state conventions. It is usually a bad move for someone to state their intentions to be a faithless Elector, they end up getting booted.

Ben Swann did a segment on faithless electors, apparently its perfectly legal and even encouraged for the electoral college to vote your conscience.
