CATO are sell outs and it's incredibly ironic for them of all groups to give out an award for "advancing liberty," but if they are why not nominee Ron? He deserves it more than anyone else.

How has Cato sold out?

I remember in height of warmongering, they placed large banner ads on NRO denouncing the war and the Patriot Act.

I think this is a good idea.

Just because one guy there doesn't like Ron Paul doesn't mean they've sold out.

Show me a policy decision they've made that runs counter to libertarianism.

CATO will never ever nominate Ron Paul.
There is too much rivalry with the Mises Institute.

But it's worth a try. :)

Did it right now.

"As a German Hayekian, I don't know any other active politician in all our western countries who stands for liberty so consistently as Dr. Paul does.
Watching our depreciating currencies, a denationalisation of money is inevitable. Regarding our classical-liberal traditions, the writ of habeas corpus is essential for due process and the rule of law. Considering the pretence of knowledge, there can be just wars, but no preemptive wars."

Obviously, you didn't spend a lot of time reading what I posted. It lays out the differences between true Libertarians and "beltway Libertarians" (CATO).

Is Ron's voting record an accomplishment? It said to summarize the accomplishments and contributions of your nominee.

CATO's a Libertarian think-tank, right? Paul ran on their ticket in 1988, is that an accomplishment?

Done.

As the champion of the U.S. Constitution, Congressman Paul's run for the 2008 POTUS has done more to advance the liberty cause than any other person this year. Thousands upon thousands are flocking to his principled message, and may be the biggest boon to the ranks of liberty lovers that we've seen in the past 40 years.

Let's all vote for RON PAUL for the "Milton Friedman Prize for Advancing Liberty"

Click here: http://www.cato.org/special/friedman/about.html (http://www.cato.org/special/friedman/about.html)
The Milton Friedman Prize for Advancing Liberty, named in honor of perhaps the greatest champion of liberty in the 20th century, is presented every other year to an individual who has made a significant contribution to advance human freedom.

Previous winners of the prize are the late British economist Peter Bauer in 2002, the Peruvian economist Hernando de Soto in 2004, the former prime minister of Estonia Mart Laar in 2006, and Yon Goicoechea, leader of the pro-democracy student movement in Venezuela, in 2008.

The prize, a cash award of $500,000, will be presented to the winner on May 13, 2010, at the Milton Friedman Prize for Advancing Liberty's Biennial Dinner at the Washington Hilton in Washington D.C.

The prize will go to an individual who has made a significant contribution to advancing human freedom. Nominees may be from any and all walks of life. Scholars, activists, and political leaders have been among the hundreds of nominations submitted for the first three prizes. The International Selection Committee vote by ballot for the winner.
Nominations for the 2010 Friedman Prize are now being accepted.

To place a nomination, click here: http://www.cato.org/special/friedman/prize/friedmanform.html (http://www.cato.org/special/friedman/prize/friedmanform.html)I posted a blog on Campaign for Liberty. Hopefully, an administrator or someone will catch wind of it and start promoting the Milton Friedman award on their main page.

I would like to build a page promoting Ron Paul for "The Milton Friedman Prize for Advancing Liberty." However, I'm not very "web savvy" and have little or no knowledge about web design, graphic design, or video creation and editing for YouTube. But there are obviously a lot of Ron Paul supporters out there who are.

Please email (http://friedmanprize@googlemail.com/)me if you have any technical knowledge and experience in web design, graphic design, or video creating/editing.

This award from the most prestigious libertarian policy think tank in America, probably even the world. The prize is also $500,000. Ron Paul could use that money toward Campaign for Liberty or something else. Also, he would get media attention for receiving the award and make media appearances on national TV discussing why he got the award.

Ron Paul might not have received "Person of the Year" by TIME Magazine. But he has a really good shot at getting "The Milton Friedman Prize for Advancing Liberty" from the CATO Institute.

Thank you for your nomination of Dr. Ronald Paul for the Milton Friedman Prize for Advancing Liberty.

Ron Paul brought the concepts of individual freedom and liberty into the limelight by consistently citing them during the 2008 Presidential campaign. His voice of reason excited a national and worldwide educational movement dedicated to advancing liberty. He authored two best-selling books since that time (the Revolution and End The Fed) and many others during his lifetime. He founded the Campaign for Liberty, a grassroots organization looking to mobilize and educate individuals on the concepts of liberty. His common main stream media appearance and house floor speeches are used to advocate responsibility, freedom, and liberty as well.

My submission.

Individual Freedom and Liberty is what our country was founded on. Ron Paul has been a champion of both. His whole life and most notably, since entering Congress he has made Freedom and Liberty the centerpiece of his life .

Ron Paul's presidential run in 2008 finally brought the concept of Liberty and Freedom to the masses. He reminded them of what our forefathers espoused and today, he is known affectionately as the Refounding Father

CATO will never ever nominate Ron Paul.
There is too much rivalry with the Mises Institute.

But it's worth a try. :)

I'm trying read hard to find some evidence of where Ron Paul was seriously dissed by the CATO Institute.

Here is a video with CATO's David Boaz on Glenn Beck:
YouTube - Glenn Beck: David Boaz discusses 'The Ron Paul Effect' (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=egFFf9d0GI8)
In that video, Glenn Beck comes off as the most disrespectful in the fist half of the video. But that was back in 2008. Since Ron Paul supporters have organized and really pushed Ron Paul and other candidates; Rand Paul, Peter Schiff, Judge Napolitano and other freedom activists have flooded Glenn Back's show. People come around, Ron Paul supporters just need to be aggressive and persistent. So I agree that it's, "worth a try".

The CATO Institute has allowed Ron Paul to speak about the GM Bailout and Auditing the Fed:
YouTube - Ron Paul: Who Feels Good About General Motors? (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=78Zei_QmDx4)
YouTube - Ron Paul calls for Federal Reserve Audit at the Cato Institute (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z3PcUZfqBew)
