this scenario could act for anyone, suppose McMullin tells his electors to vote for Romney. surely a GOP house would elect Romney.

or its 269, 268 and one vote for ANYONE, in any state. the house could pick that person. even if they had 1 elector.

It would require that 1) neither Trump nor Clinton get enough votes in the Electoral College and
2) House of Representatives (both parties) choosing him to be president instead of either Clinton or Trump. An incredible long shot.

What happens if no presidential candidate gets 270 Electoral votes?

If no candidate receives a majority of Electoral votes, the House of Representatives elects the President from the 3 Presidential candidates who received the most Electoral votes. Each state delegation has one vote. The Senate would elect the Vice President from the 2 Vice Presidential candidates with the most Electoral votes. Each Senator would cast one vote for Vice President. If the House of Representatives fails to elect a President by Inauguration Day, the Vice-President Elect serves as acting President until the deadlock is resolved in the House.

Republicans currently control the House so would likely choose Trump in such a scenario. True if he won one state he would be "one of the three" top electoral college vote getters he is eligible for consideration.

Laughable. The whole #NeverTrump movement justifies its existence under the absurd pretense that Trump can't win. If vote goes to the House, then it means Trump beat Hillary and that the only thing that stopped him from being President outright was #NeverTrump itself. How are you going to convince the at minimum 27 states that voted Trump that they should reject the will of their voters and instead side with the voters of what everybody else in America views as some wacky religious cult?
