Doesn't that mean the federal government has to admit that it has at least one valid medical purpose and therefore shouldn't be a schedule 1 drug in the first place? :D

I was a prohibited person before I was using cannabis for medical reasons.

I am not a marijuana card holder.

what's this about again,,?

Again,, how is prohibiting the use of a beneficial (gift from God) plant any prerogative of government?

and the 2nd Amendment speaks for itself.

I think anyone who has watched the documentary movie "reefer madness," would see the perils of allowing potheads to own firearms?

A pothead is in no way a threat to you, unless you're a bag of Doritos of course.

Or a box of Pringles.

I'm sorry, that's incorrect. We would have accepted can or tube.

The diameter of Pringle cans is way too small. Can't fit my hand in it.

Without even reading the judgment, it's right there on the 4473 form, folks. Every time someone buys a gun from a gun store in the US they have to answer this question.

"e. Are you an unlawful user of, or addicted to, marijuana or any depressant, stimulant, narcotic drug, or any other controlled substance?"

Of course we'd all argue about what "unlawful" means in this case, but given that the federal government hasn't gotten rid of the statutes claiming any use thereof is illegal, they're kind of stuck saying any use is illegal.

What about 100% legal States, different Federal laws for different States?

It's looking more and more like the best gun to own is one that is not registered.

I don't think the government can prove that smoking pot makes a person have violent tendencies.

Those are the best weapons to own.

It is still illegal under federal law.

It is still illegal under federal law.

And yet gun rights people accept the restrictions on the 2nd amendment gladly.

to keep guns away from "those kind of people".

We knew we couldn't make it illegal to be either against the war or black,
but by getting the public to associate the hippies with marijuana and blacks with heroin.
And then criminalizing both heavily, we could disrupt those communities.

We’re not arguing here over whether someone can be punished for misusing either speech or a gun — committing libel or slander, for example, or brandishing, assaulting or otherwise using a weapon in an inappropriate manner.

No, we’re talking about prior restraint despite the lack of evidence that at the current time, or at any future time, there is an intent to do anything evil or improper. Indeed, the worst crime you’re likely to commit if you use marijuana is a capital assault on the nearest bag of Doritos.

In short, it is now mere association that can send you to jail, and yet we, the people, cheer this on despite the clear prohibition in the Constitution that makes all such laws void.

Extremely Dangerous Precedent!

Get a prescription, lose your rights.
Bad enough in itself, but the reasoning can be extended to anything. This is pre-crime (aka no crime) punishment. Next up: See a doctor, lose your rights. Call a counselor, lose your rights. Visit x, lose your rights. Speak out, lose your rights.

Not really surprised Faux would applaud this.

In addition, a ban on the sale of guns to marijuana and other drug users is reasonable because the use of such drugs "raises the risk of irrational or unpredictable behavior with which gun use should not be associated," Senior District Judge Jed Rakoff said.

it's complete bullshit.

I know from experience with irrational and unpredictable behavior.

it's the "manic" side of Manic depression.
it happens without drugs
